I received mine and it's a very nice mod, vapes well at 3.7 and 6 volts. Tested with an LR 510 and HV 510 at 6 volts. It's well built with the same button that the Silver Bullet uses. The finish is great-super smooth with the varnish and wax. Would you call this a tiger maple? It has stripes that remind me of a tiger, seems to have almost a 3D effect. This makes a very nice addition to my other wood mods and am looking forward to more wood creations by Mr. Bahnzo-great work!

Received my 18650 and boy is she a beauty! Vaped on her with a 1.5 Ohm 510 and it was perfect. The wood is just gorgeous, and I really like the illuminating button. Love how Kevin used the tiny magnets to keep the door on. Wow, what a craftsman!

Okay, waiting for the next work of art, first in line!

Thank you both!

Tiger maple = curly maple, same difference. The 3D effect you get from it is precisely why I like it so much. When you take the time to dye and finish it properly, it just looks great. Turning it in the light revealing the stripes always makes me smile a little bit.

And the name is Ken....but that's ok, at this point I'm used to be called Kevin...it's a common mistake. While I don't mind that, I *hate* those little magnets. They are a pain to work with...which another reason I'm redesigning the way the mod goes together and comes apart. I'm still going to use the larger 1/4" magnets; they work well in holding things together and are much easier to handle. Those little buggers almost need a jeweler's magnifiying thingie.

Should have some pics soon of the new redesign using the blue dye. Looks pretty good but I'm not sure if I prefer the colored wood over the more natural look. I guess I'll let you guys decide that.

Also: if anyone knows where I might find some small jars/tins about the size of the carmax lip balm, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to include a small amount of wax with each mod. I've done some looking at the usual places (Specialty Bottle, US Plastics) and no one seems to carry anything that small.

ken...try here...

Hey Ken! I got some paint containers (?) from LuckyLulu in two separate PIFs, I think they are just what you're looking for. I don't know where she got them from but they hold about 5ml, have a screw top, 1" high, about 3/4" diameter. I have 14 that you are more than welcome to have, just pm me, but youi'll have to ask her where she got them. I think she said that painters use them for when they mix stored homemade colors:?::?::?: -- but I don't have a clue, I know I don't need them!!!!

Edit: Maybe they are for paint samples, it would seem to be a reasonable guess!:)

Ok here's the first of a new design. This is *NOT* for sale, I'm either keeping it for myself or something else I have planned.

An overview of the 14500 mod. It's a very nice size, and with the new design you can see how the tiger stripes flow around the mod from side to side.

The inside.

I've shown in earlier posts how the new design goes together. These two pics above show it in a little more detail. The mod slides together, with the rare earth magnets at the bottom joining up to link together and provide a very solid base.

Finishing up the 18650 prototype and if all goes well, I should have some ready in the coming weeks. I'm still waiting on some parts that are backordered, so can't really do much until I get the switches to make sure they fit properly.

I like the natural look better myself as well, but I know there are people out there who would like something different so I'll make a few.

I also like the silver switches (the ones used on the 18650's) but they are too large for the 14500's. Getting one to fit on a 14500 box would defeat the purpose of a smaller size.
