Heya! Im Ash. I am not new to vaping, but I am not an expert on batteries and currents and etc. So my IJUST S broke for the second time and I decided I'll get a new mod (Im still using the ijust s tank and automizer though). I get the mod for 30 eur and the batteries from the same shop. I vape for like a week and then I notice that the batteries charge up too quickly (from red to green in like 10 minutes) and wont work very well at all, max I'll get is some super weak smoke. I noticed that when my charger shows green I will replace 1 battery into another slot and it will show red again, just for a few minutes before going to green. I have checked the batteries on the official Basen website and it says they are original. I must also note that I am using my vape very very frequently! So please tell me what Im doing wrong or how I could fix this, or prevent this from happening again.
Thanks

It was probably automatic. They have rules about links here that I don’t really understand. It’s mostly to combat spammers iirc but it sometimes gets in the way. Maybe try the photo or picture tools in the top bar.

To my knowledge anything that isn’t Samsung, LG, Sanyo/Panasonic, or Sony is a rewrap company. The issue is the manufacturing equipment for lithium batteries is gigantic and there are only a few companies that actually do it. The rest buy factory rejects and rewrap them with their own logo.

Damn maybe you're right. So like can I confront the seller of the batteries or not worth it?
You might be able to get them to replace your batteries. Not all vape shops know about the whole rewrap thing. They may be innocent.

Doubtful,
Only buy authentic name brands cells from known reputable vendors / dealers.
Batteries are the single most important piece in vaping, especially if safety is of any concern.

Mooch has charts, tests, videos & recommendations of how to select a cell and where to buy, actually everything battery related.

Who are Basen?

Take them back (or send them back) to the shop. Demand a refund.

Buy Sony, LG, Samsung, Sanyo, Panasonic next time.

Bad luck. Most of us have made these mistakes. I can't see why you can't get your money back from the shop. Doesn't really matter if they are new, old, fake, re-wrap or, uncharged for 2 years or just bad batteries - the law says they have to be fit for purpose. Unless the law is different for different countries.

Good luck. :)

Whereas I've no solid reason to reject what you say, the fact is I have Efest (purple) badged 18650 batteries I bought in 2014, and they're still fine, by which I mean they hold a good charge. So was I lucky or what?

Oh damn, why was it removed?

Hi probably removed because you haven't made enough posts yet. I think you have to make 10 posts before you can post links. Not sure though.

The batteries as stated by others are probably not what the shop told you they were.

Them being rewraps doesn't mean they are necessarily junk batteries. They could be. They could be good batteries that are sold with exaggerated ratings, in which case if you don't push them too hard they would be fine. You could buy the same Efests today and they might have a different battery inside than they had last week.

The main problem is that it's crap shoot. You just don't know what you are buying. The same is true with most batteries unless you pick up the big name brands from a reliable seller.

The only way to distinguish between the problem being the mod or the batteries, is to either buy a new mod and encounter the same issue if they are counterfeits, or try the same batteries in a new mod and encounter similar problems.

Since batteries are likely going to be less expensive and you may want to have more than one set around anyway so you can swap them I might suggest getting some new batteries from an authorized, known seller of authentics. There's no harm in getting a backup mod certainly, but since mods carry warranties, if yours is still in force, you should find out if it's the mod first, at which point you can get your mod replaced.

Batteries of the type used in vaping typically come with no such warning.

@Joules_Verne's valuable link doesn't seem to be working. Since it's such an important one, I thought I'd make sure it was available:

Mooch's blog contains all sorts of vital information about batteries. However, if you're just getting into the topic some more accessible places to start are:

Basen is poor battery choice. There are huge differences in battery brands.

Basen doesn't have a battery factory. They just obtain cheap poor quality cells, put their own wrap on them, and then advertise inflated specifications: Are You Using a Rewrap (Rebranded or Aftermarket) Battery?

--Copy/pasted from Mooch's battery tests.
In the future, buy only from trusted battery suppliers to avoid counterfeits:

Buy only authentic batteries made by Lg, Samsung, Sanyo, or Sony:

That depends upon the model you have and when the battery was sold. Efest doesn't have a battery factory. They buy their cells from battery manufacturers and battery suppliers of varying quality, put their own wrap on them, and then generally advertise inflated ratings. They can change the cell that they re-wrap at any point in time, so quality can vary in consistancy from one lot to another. Some might call this "bait and switch" tactics. So, depending upon the cell that Efest was using at the time of your purchase, you'll either be lucky or not. Inconsistant at best.
