So I got my Reo Mini recently and finally have all the parts, etc. (Unfortunately, the IKV 510-801 adapter doesn't have a hole through the center so none of my 801 attys will work with the Reo at the moment...) Luckily, I also grabbed a couple of 510 attys as well.

So anyways... I attached the atomizer, sqounked the bottle, yet I get nothing but a burnt taste and no vapor at all. I've tried squonking more, I've blew all the liquid out of the atty and started over as I thought I flooded it... I just can't get anything but a wisp of vapor and a burnt taste!

How the hell do you make this thing work?!?! :p

(Sorry I'm a total noob... I have the Buzz also, but I've always just stuck to cartos... I've found them to be much easier. :p

Part 2 of my question is are there any 510 to 801 adapters that do have the hole in the center for bottom feeding? Avid vaping maybe?

I don't know if this is much help, but reo's work awesome with carto's! I love using nothing but carto's on mine and they feed so well with them. In fact I love it so much I just tend to gloss over the helpful advice the kind reo folk took the time to post when it comes to atty's

That's the same conclusion I came to with my Buzz... So I picked up a bunch of 801 cartos as well... I just can't use them at the moment because the juice fed won't work through that stupid adapter! :p

I've started to get a little vapor going now but I have to suck like crazy through this atty... And even with that, the vapor prduction is still minimal... :( I'm sure I'm still not doing it right, so all advice is welcomed... :p

1. With a new atty, you should prime it with 5 drops or so of your liquid...right on top, and let it sit for a few minutes...
2. Make sure you're juice bottle is screwed on snugly to ensure a good seal....not pliers tight, but good and snug...
3. After the atty has sat for a few minutes and soaked in the juice, give the bottle a light squeeze, until you see just a glimmer of liquid start to enter under the atty into the catch cup....then stop squeezing...
4. Make sure the fire button switch is turned all the way to the left....this also acts as an on/off/lock switch...
5 take a light draw without pushing the fire button to draw a bit more liquid into the atty...
6. Press the fire button and vape away....
When you start losing flavor and vapor, repeat the bottle squeeze ... Squeezing the bottle is referred to as 'squonking' by the way...

Good luck....feel free to ask questions anytime....

You should be getting lots of vapor with that atty (although a tad on the hot side). It's possible you have a bum atty, have you tried switching to a different one just to eliminate that? (And I'm assuming your battery is fully charged)

Battery is fully charged and I'm getting a ton of vapor on the short, quick draw strategy right now. The slow drag produces no vapor and an awful, hot, burnt taste. All of my other attys that I got are the 801 variety so I can't really try another. I'm rather satisfied with the loads of vapor off of the quick powerful draws, though... I think it may just take some time to get used to using attys... But you usually can do the slow long drags off of the same atty? =/

Any idea of a 510 to 801 adapter that will work with a Reo?

+1 on the Avid Stealth adapter that Hairball mentioned. It has worked great for me. Never had an issue with it.

You should definitely remove the wick at this point. I'm saying this is because it sounds like you have already burnt your wick with the initial use. So, the flavor isn't going to go away. For a 510 I usually:

Take a paper clip and look down the atomizer to see the little loop. This will make it easier to pull all the strands out at once. When it's out I take a tweezer and pull everything out at once. Here's a video just in case my directions weren't all to clear:

*Biggest advantage of de-wicking is to avoid the burnt flavor and also, to remove the primer taste. Even if you blow it out. There is a bit of it still left in the wick that has been soaking in it. So, there's still quite a bit of primer at this point. Afterwards, you have basically killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Making your life easier and getting a MUCH better vaping experience.

1.5's can be tricky but once you get over the learning curve. It'll be one of your favorites when using stronger/tobacco flavors. After you prime it with 7 drops and let it sit for 10 min. Just squonk every 5 hits or so to keep the atty wet. Even if you forget to squonk during that time and get the burnt flavor. It won't last like it is now since you have de-wicked it. Just another squonk afterwards and that dreaded taste will be gone.

Hope that helps.

After using it for a full day, I've worked out a lot of the kinks with sqounking and with proper atty usage. I did apparently buy an adapter from Avid as well, luckily. :p

Overall: I am very pleased. I know that I will continue to move up this learning curve, but it's a well built device that actually performs! (Easier than cartos on a VV mod? Maybe not... but I think it does perform better!)

Opportunities for my personal improvement: Continue to adapt to the device. I'd like to try out cartos on it as well and will do so soon to see how they perform. I also need to improve on the button pushing. It's hard to determine how hard the button needs to be pushed for best results.

I am overall impressed and happy that I ended up with a mini vs. a grand. I only used ~1.5-2 ml of juice today and a single battery actually lasted me the entire day! The reo fits wonderfully in my hand as well. I am definitely happy with it so far and am sure I'll really be in love soon!

One small question, do any of you have problems with the juice leaking out of the catch cup if left in your pocket? My shirt today didn't have a pocket so I had to use my slacks pocket... I didn't notice any leakage but some feedback from you experienced reonauts would still be appreciated!

Thanks for everything and hopefully this post is semi-coherent! (16 hour work day again. =/)

There's an easy way to see how hard you should push the button. Just put it up to your ear and start pressing the button. Once you hear the sizzle from your atty or carto. Your good. Picked that trick up from one of these threads since I had a tendency to crush the button.

Personally, I've had a few occasions in the beginning when I didn't have my squonking technique down. If your squeeze the bottle to hard. Then there is going to be access that leaks out from the holes in the atty/carto. It's best to wipe it down and blow your atty/carto out before you pick it in your pocket in the beginning until you get over the learning curve. Probably be in your best interest to carry a napkin with you until then.

BUT, you won't really have to worry about that if you use a carto. Since any extra juice will be absorbed by the filler material and your catch cup will be dry.

Now, for an atty. Once you learn to squonk it correctly then there isn't going to be enough liquid in your atty to leak out of the catch cup. My technique is:

1. Take a light draw without hitting the button.
2. Lightly squeeze the bottle during that time
3. When you hear a slight gurgle then immediately stop.
4. Vape away

This will last you about 5 draws. Make sure you reach the 5th one before putting it in your pocket. Your atty will be basically bone dry by then.

that helps one of my atty questions, how to tote it in your pocket without spilling juice all over. I am wondering how to keep dirt and lint out of the catch cup though... I am thinking about getting an o ring of some sort that would slide up and down the atty, not necessarily sealing off the cup, but detering dust collection.
