with the darwin i highly recommend looking into getting a gooseneck extention...its a very good device, you will be happy with it, save you old pv incase one day you need t send the darwin in for warrenty, they vape awesome and the battery lasts a very long time, but they arent perfect so eventually you may or may not have to send it in to get fixed a backup is good to have either way....

it was your darwin, some of them the arm is looser, some the button is harder to push etc. , if you ever have to send it back theyll fix that...the new ones/ or replaced ones have a quarter inch extention where the 510 threads are on the brass knob also...but anyhoo ya the gooseneck keeps the juice from dripping all over the unit its much easier to notice it on the gooseneck so you can wipe it off before it reaches anything important, such as inside the dial....

I've heard so many great things about this device, and just recently, I was torn on which device to purchase (between this and what I obviously went with, the ProVari).

A few things that made me choose the ProVari over the Darwin:
-The on/off arm- It's unique, no doubt, but for my personal purposes, it's an inconvenience. I shudder to think I would have to take a tank or larger cartomizer (what have you), off every time I wish to turn the unit off or on. Specifically for dripping, it's not as bad, but even still, I don't think a drip shield can be on while the arm is in the 'off' position, can it?

-No changeable battery- Perhaps this is just something I could easily have gotten over, but in my state of thinking (that of never using a device with a built-battery), it seems another inconvenience. Though I cannot say for sure, since I've never tried it out. The inconvenience being, of course, having to send the device in to eVolve to have the battery swapped.

-Rattling sound- This is just a nit-pick, but, still a minor concern of mine none the less. Were I to pay $200+ for a device, I expect no rattling. Rattling sounds in a device like these is a conditioned sound (learned in my mind) to equate to something that is broken. Of course I know it isn't, but my mind will need re-conditioning to think otherwise and that is another, albeit minor, inconvenience.

If one day eVolve were to redesign the device and addressed my personal concerns, I'll surely acquire myself a Darwin V2, or whatever they will call it. It seems like an excellent device and the super 1up I personally believe the Darwin has over the ProVari is the stored wattage setting. (Which we all know, the ability to set the wattage and retain it, no matter what atty/carto resistance being used).

Nice review Basil, I always look forward to watching. You need to come up with a get-rich-quick scheme, as to allow you more time to make more videos

I have to fall in line with Lev here. My good friend Basil is in disagreement with me. But if he'd like to lend me his Darwin, I'd be happy to review it against the Provari :)

The Darwin just doesn't "do it" for me. And I spent a lot of time on the fence between it and the Provari.

Now as a disclaimer- I've become an admitted Provari fanboi. And I'm certain the Darwin vapes every bit as well as the Provari (Which is to say "OMG THIS ROCKS!!!). But the form factor is such a killer for me.

So like most things in vaping- it's going to be a preference issue.

And to both Basil and Scott: Great reviews!!

Ditto, I tried to love the Darwin, I only gave it a day... I was spoiled with my Provari. I am strickly tanks now and the Darwin is NOT for that... It would however, be the better of the two for a dripper that can use the folding arm for the designed purpose. They vape equally as well, but for tanks, the Provari is the hands down winner. For dripping, I would go with the Darwin...

try a darwin with a ttgouseneck. You can close the arm with the tank. I get a totally different draw from the darwin verse the provari. The parovari is like a tank to me and the darwin hits like an atty. Guess everyone is different.

Ture, I should have mentioned that My Provari is more pocket friendly then the Darwin for me. I considered the gooseneck, however, I dont want a two foot tall mod to vape off of, and I know you dont have to put it in the upright position, but I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to form factor.

Chief, I do not care if you like the Darwin or not. But these posts are getting pathetic. You posted in every Darwin thread how excited you were to get one - even posting from your car in traffic frustrated that it might take you ten more minutes to get home so you could use it. Then you kept it for 1 day and sold it - despite many posts from people encouraging you to keep it for a week or so to give it a fair chance (reviewers - good ones - give a device at least a week or more, some a month) and that it would not lose any resale value. Nonetheless, you sold it the day after you got it and immediately started making posts like this one about "a two foot tall mod..." when you already had seen (and responded to) this from another poster trying to help you:

Darwin or Provari or any device will not be for everyone. There are hundreds (probably well over a thousand +++) happily enthusiastic Darwinians just as there are Provarians. It is beginning to look like you got it to knock it. Dude, if you don't like it - fine, move on, but these posts of yours are beginning to say a lot more about you than they do about the device.

Have the link to the pic with the ultra small tt gooseneck on a darwin closed. Was it 1 inch or smaller? Shame they are the same price as the big ones. They look cool though. That might help more and I am interested in maybe getting another one :p for when I get the ripseed tank.

Chief that is debatable I guess it is personal preference. I agree with the original reviewer about how it looks and feels better then tube mods in the pocket. But who knows everyone is different. Just wish it could handel duel coil attys and cartos and three cartos better. I know the provari doesn't do well with those too. Anyone know a VV metal mod with a screen that can handle the 2 and 3 coils? After trying a duel coil on a 7.2 volt device I don't want to give up the VV for something that tastes that great.

Neb....funny that I was lookin' at some closed threads in the classy's and saw where someone bought a Vari, kept it one day and said they could not get used to VVand sold it...later bought another....later bought a new Darwin and kept it one day because it was not pocket friendly and sold it....huh.....maybe a pattern.....not flaming. just an observation....

Agree that just moving on is the best for all....

Ironic, isn't it?

This is a review thread... not a "bash this guy because he buys and sells stuff" thread. So, he buys mods and if he doesn't like them for whatever reasons, he sells them, So What? It bothers you enough that he posts about it? Get over yourselves... he's an adult, and I would assume you are as well, he can do whatever he pleases with the property he purchases, for whatever reasons.

Not sure what I ever did or said to you to in the past for you to attack my character based on my post(s), but I am ALWAYS very diplomatic about what I say... Why would I spend my hard earned money on a very expensive device to knock it... Just doesnt add up...

I never knew it was wrong to post opinions... I NEVER bashed the darwin, not once... As a matter of fact, I praised the device... I love how people take everything out of context, and twist it around so make them feel like there is a right or a wrong... I said I don't want a PV thats 2 feet long... and that is a personal preference... People can dig up old posts, say whatever they want, and even find fault when there is none. There I said what I needed to. Twist it around as you wish!

You were right. It was my friends darwin I was trying out. Mine is much stiffer. For some reason the Darwin you own is much better than the one you loan....
