Sorry everyone, I have not been around all that much. My business has been keeping me very busy and I just have not had the time to be around and check the forums. Though I did order 8 bottles of WOW when they came back in stock :)

For some time now, I have been running into issues with batteries and cartos or all types, and I think its about time I bring this to light in hopes that some changes can be made as it is really starting to spoil my vaping.

There seems to be a really big issue with quality control of the batteries and cartos in the last say 6 months or so. The issue honestly seems to stem from slightly off manafacturing specs on both batteries and cartos.

I have finally been able to do some measurements and track down the root cause, which is a hard drag from the cartos. Here is what i have noticed.

1. I have over 20 battieries, all manuals and of different lengths, that are not all the same. Some have a slightly deeper center inset, some are right where they should be, some are to high.

2. Out of all my batteries, I only have a few that have the air holes in the correct place. Most are either up close to the threads, or almost at the bottom of the lip. some even have small holes and some have slihtly larger holes.

3. The cartos seem have have the same type of issues, some of the center insets are very shallow, and some are too deep. The issue with this, is that if they are not in the correct place, you either end up with a carto that does not thread down far enough to line up with the air hols on the battery, or end up with a cart that you have to thread all the way down blocking the air holes completely.

4. The carto batting. There does not seem to be a standard hieght on the batting either, some cartos the batting is high up to the top, some are all but half the length and others seem to be in the right place. Even the metal heating element seems to not be standard either. some are barried down in the batting, some are even so high that putting a drip tip on, bends the top down into the batting.

5. In some cases the carto's wrapping comes all the way down over the air slates on the carto, and i have to cut part of the label away to free up the slates.

6. another main issue with the cartos i have also noticed, is the draw is directly matched with the slight cut in on the center hole peice. if you look at the bottom of the carto, you will see a channel cut across the hole, but now look where that channel points in relation to the slots on the carto. if the slot is lined up with the cut out on the carto, its a good draw, if that slot is lined up with the wall of the carto, the draw is harder. you can line up carts and see that that slot is all over the place.

all of this results in what i consider a huge pain in the .... The hard draw. Wether its prefilled cartos or blanks that I fill, I am constantly having to mix and match cartos with batteries to find the right mix to allow a good draw. In fact right now, I am using a manually filled carto on a manual short becouse its the only batterie that lines up right for a good draw.

Now before people chim in, I am aware of all the tricks and cleaning that needs to be done to keep everything running. I clean my batteries often, make sure the holes are clear and that everything is cleaned. I have even used the sandpaper trick on some of the batteries to make the threading easier.

However, that being said, we should not have to be doing all these tips and tricks to get these things to work properly, and I really think that there either needs to be better quality control or a change in design.

One of the ways around all this is to move to a pin and slot design with a spring loaded center pin on the battery. So instead of threads, you push the carto down and twist to lock it in place. at that point regardless of the slight manafaturing defects, the center would line up and the carto and battery would match properly and allow for good air flow. Just an Idea anyway.

all in all I have been vaping only with V4L for a year and a half now, and this is only something i have been running into for the past 6 months or so, but it seems to be very common now with every order i place.

Please do not flame me on this, its just my attempt to bring some things i see are major spoilers for me to light so maybe something can be done about it. I want my cartos to work with whatever batterie i grab, not have to hunt for the right combo to be happy.

Thanks.

This isn't an excuse, but V4L has existed for about 2yrs.They have had to switch manufacturers, both battery and juices, and had things held in customs.I'm sure they are working hard to get themselves a manufacturing plant so they will have better QC.It doesn't help the issue but it does explain whats been going on.I have a lot of faith in this company and I know it will all come together. Its already better than the generic stuff. Its always moving ahead.Like I said no excuse, just the way I see it.

I've had the same concerns and for me it comes to my lack of funds. I dont have the money to waste on a pack of cartos with bad wires, filling, etc. So Im hoping all the bugs get worked out and their new facility allows them to do the things they want to do such as quality control. Ive noticed things being a bit better lately so hopefully things are turning around. I have faith in them, like keyzy said. At least if something is really wrong they are the kind of company to try and make it right. That means a lot to me! Thanks for this post.

I understand you, Mabbo. I'm reminded that vaping's still in its infancy in many ways, and I see V4L and other suppliers working hard to improve things. Overall consistency's still rather hard to find, though, but most everyone seems to be rooting for it. From Steve's recent posts, I can see that his current thrust to update manufacturing abroad is trying to target that need. Fingers crossed. Like all of us, I want V4L to succeed and even lead the way.

A related issue that arises from time to time is the lack of user adjustment possible. If one could easily adjust a carto's and batt's draw to suit individual prefs, that would help a lot when something doesn't suit us. At the moment, it's like listening to a stereo with no ability to adjust the treble and bass for individual CDs/mp3s, something most folks wouldn't accept. Looking forward to the day when tweaking one's gear is easy.

Anyhow, good to see you back in town, man. :2cool:

Mabbo as you well know I have no bones to bare with you so don't take my reply as being some type of slam. As business Owners I would think that you already understand the "whys" and "whats" which make up the basic points of your post.

There are other vendors who can deliver the type of higher level consistency you desire and it is reflected in their prices. Every business must define their niche, V4L's is the starter market when it comes to hardware. Their products are massed produced with several unforgiving tolerances which are sold at very competitive prices.

I would liken your noted concerns as being similar to complaining at McDonalds that you eat there everyday and love their Big Macs. However, you have noticed that the amount of lettuce and onions aren't consistent. Sometimes there are a lot of onions, other times no so much, and you would like the exact amount....after all you are a customer. But you don't want to pay any extra should the company have to take measures to ensure such consistency. Even if you were willing to pay more, the rest of the McDonald's customer base would not be.

Of course, you could go across the street and pay double for a more consistent burger, but for some reason that is simply an unacceptable alternative. In the meantime, you feel that McDonald's should cater to your request even though their other 1 million customers find such consistency issues to be inconsequential to their Big Mac purchasing needs.

No matter what the business on occasion you have a customer with needs you simply cannot service at a competitive price, at best all you can do is refer them to a company that can handle their needs....V4L is no different.

I do see a day in the not so distant future where you will have more battery and carto choices along with slightly higher prices at V4L. Hopefully some of these first-gen consistency issues will be resolved but until then...it is what it is. I know that the other posters above, like me, have alternate hardware and I would suggest that you explore other vendors with the knowledge that you will be paying more for better performance.

Have a good 4th Mabbo, miss you old avatar!

im glad im not the only one having these issues....its as if lately someone changed things without checking with someone else.I will be interested to see what the reps have to say about the above .Several of my cartos will not fit at all( as if they are not made to fit at all ) on one of my newer xl batterys .Please do not go irate, but its awfully hard to reccommend a product with so many " issues " .All my batteries are manual XL's ...i do not use my shorty manual as it seems to last about 15 minutes .

I don't like it either. I don't like anything, but at least I hate everything on a consistent basis. I hate inconsistencies. In the batting, the cartos some have more, some have less. Cartos some hit well, some don't. Batteries some work for a while, some work a long time. Ordering one color battery getting another,. Some cartos come in wrappers, some dont, some have blue wires some have black ones. I used to get cards to hand out to all who ask about it , now I don't. Now my invoices are just wadded up and shoved into my package, used to be nicely folded and placed. Orders used to get to me amazingly fast, lately seems amazingly slow.

What's up? My credit card always works nice and neat every time.......

Show the love for the constructive criticism.

Well everyone. I wanted to update this thread.

After some thinking, and a very good recoomendation from a fellow member, I decided to try my hand at another vendors batteries to see if I could solve my main issue.

I am pleased to say that I am impressed with the change, I have tried all my cartos, prefilled and self filled, and all work every time, same draw and conistancy that I have been wanting. No more mixing and matching to find what carto goes with what battery.

and the great news is that i can still get all my cartos and juices from the company I love and started with. V4L :)

BTW.

LOL SNOW. That was me, and I just got lucky. These nuts make me much slower since they weigh a ton :) Girls even have to ride in the back of my truck, cause my nuts ride shotgun :)

Thanks Moran, I am very happy as well.

Also decided to try some very big cartos, damn things hold like 30 drops of juice and seem to be working well.

Sometimes you gotta try whats out there to find the right combo :)
