OP here. Now see, as I said, I'm an eGo-loving numpty. Multimeters are not in my future. The only meters I deal with are water, electric, and thermo. As the batteries I ordered last night (AW 18350) are 700 mAh, I'll just be sure to rotate them every few hours.

Thanks, Traver, for the "rest period" reminder. It reminded me that I've read it's good to let the batteries sit for a time when they come off the charger, before using them.

I now have a nice package coming from RTD, and I'm mech'd! You people are the best! :thumb:

Letting batteries rest before using them strait off the charger does nothing. Letting them rest after use, BEFORE charging them is what you want.

I think he said let them rest after using before TESTING them on a meter.

Since I don't sub-ohm or run high powered dual setups very often...I personally find the investment in an Evolv Kick 2 worth it. Particularly when I want to grab stock toppers and take the PV out of the house for extended periods.

Piece of mind on safety.

I get more lee-way on atties and cartos that I throw on the mech.

Most of the benifits of a DNA or ProVari, but without the added weight/space/durability issues of a fancy display.

No brainer monitoring the battery drain. It simply cuts itself off when the battery voltage under load for my preferred power setting gets low.

Very smooth and efficient. To me when Kicked, it's just as good from full charge to cut-off as the straight battery is for the few minutes the raw battery actually operates in the sweet-spot for my atty build. Granted with good 18650 battery...the sweet spot can last a while without a Kick....but for the smaller battery sizes...I find the Kick a real benefit.

I can easily move it around from mod to mod...so it's a one time investment.

I got a Kick 1 the week they came out for the Public...I'm still running it today, so I'm confident they'll last for years. Picked up a Kick 2 a couple of weeks ago and now I can push more boundaries with sub-ohm stuff and enjoy a few more dozen puffs off a single battery charge.

Since using Kicks I've gravitated towards 18500 and 18650 (for the few mods i have with kick rings/options) batteries.

I've a few IMR 18350 batteries as well...they'll go a few hours of heavy vaping when Kicked (far less when not kicked), but for my money I'll stick with 18500 IMR and 18650 2000mah+ Hybrids with a genuine genuine Evolv Kick.

I've tried the cheaper SmokTek clone Kick...worth the money and I often give them to friends as gifts in their 'first mech mod', but not nearly as smooth and consistent as the Evolv one. I've yet to try the Segelie (sp?) clone.

How about something like this;

The following two links will show how complicated it is to use a multimeter for the same purpose;

And

A $10 multimeter;
DT95B basic function multi-meter for electronic cigarette testing
Or;
Ohm Reader, Batteries, Chargers, Replacement Parts - Mod Accessories - AltSmoke

I am just showing these as examples. It's really not very complicated and a multimeter is invaluable for trouble shooting.

This is a "closing" post to express my appreciation to everyone who contributed to this thread.

I received my vapemail from RTD, checked everything out (no DOA's) and the Magneto plus all is waiting under the tree. Christmas evening is going to be *exciting*! (Probably the most fun since I got my first pair of figure skates at age 7 and hit the neighborhood pond!)

Thank you, everybody, for all your help! May all your holidays be as much fun! :vapor: :thumbs: :vapor:
