Thanks @Mooch , very interested to see your results shortly. Are you exclusively using the 3 cell sled for testing?
My rx200 battery rotation, if followed strictly, always results in the same cell being in the middle position. Not sure how I feel or want to deal with that one!!!!

    Yes, four 3-cell sleds.

Glad I was referred to this thread yesterday and not in August. I posed a question in a seperate thread about where to draw the line on battery marriage now that I've purchased a GX350. I have two sets of previously married (2 x 2) Sony vct5s which I was using in dual battery mods. All have similar age and condition. So the question becomes do I really need to invest in 4 new batteries or is it safe enough to marry these two sets of two to make it one big incestual happy family of 4.

From a financial perspective the question wasn't so important as buying 2 batteries wasn't a big investment back when dual battery mods were popular. However, now that we have 3 and 4 battery configuration mods and many of us are crossing over from 3 battery mods to 4 battery mods, the question becomes more pertinent given that buying 4 new batteries means spending $40-50 on batteries while perfectly good two and three battery sets sit in the vape inventory unused and wasted for fear of engaging in hazardous battery practices.

Fear of Battery Armageddon is making companies like Sony, Efest, Samsung richer. Speaking of which, we are in the year 2017 and soon we will be sending people to Mars. Are we really incapable of finding safer technologies to heat up our wicks and coils other than Lithium Ion batteries? There has got to be a better way than constantly charging and marrying up batteries. It seems primitive.

I'm glad Mooch is doing this test, someone really ought to. I just hope we don't have to wait until 2019 for the results.

I am concerned Moosh blew himself up in his experiments [emoji23][emoji23]

Takes quite a while to run several thousand cycles, with life always getting in the way and stuff. :)
That's just for the preliminary results too.

These are the two sets of previously married dual sets I've now combined into a marriage of 4 batteries for the GX350. All roughly the same age.

    Any serious problems here?

    I assume you are trolling.
I try not to presume the worst, so let's say he honestly doesn't know (or perhaps suspects, and this is his way of asking for a second opinion).

At least one of those could use a rewrap. Battery wraps (or "jackets" if you prefer the technical term) are ten for a buck, with one dollar shipping, from battwrap.com, and can be applied with a hair dryer. If you have access to two dollars and a hair dryer, there's no reason not to rewrap that battery, unless you'd simply rather replace it. In that case, stick some electrical tape on the ends and bring it in to a Radio Shack or Home Depot (or similar -- anywhere that sells rechargeable-battery devices like cell phones, power tools, etc. is supposed to accept them as well) for proper recycling.

I am not trolling. That was caused by my Sigelei but I always thought that so long as the black lining inside is intact and in place the battery should be fine? So this is not safe?

Thanks for the advice. I honestly did not think this was unsafe. It did concern me a bit but I thought it was just superficial wear and tear just on the end of the battery. I was led to believe that what matters is the black lining inside that wrap on the positive end which could cause shorting if it is damaged. The body of the wrap is fine, it's just a little tattered right on the end so I figured it was fine.

Damn Sigelei dual battery 150 watt has done this to about 6 of my batteries.

Anytime you have nicks ESPECIALLY around the top positive re-wrap. Wraps are incredibly cheap and easy to apply.

Just me, I see a reason to re wrap 3 of the 4 just from your pictures, so I would re wrap all 4.
Torn / nicked wrap is a saftey concern that is easily remedied.

It may be the picture / camera angle or battery placement in the photo, cell 3 looks different from the others.
The top gap appears wider, the cell slightly taller/longer, the top more rounded & to my critical eye just funky.
You do know there are counterfeits of those cells, not saying for sure that one is but from one picture it does raise concern to me.
& peel off the 18650 3.7v 2500mah stickers, they're only there for shipping compliance.
