I use that battery in my KTS+ from time to time and its fine as long as you keep your coils at 0.8ohm and above. I usually use it with a kick. I get that problem with the button not working all the time and getting warm with mine. I found that if you take a little sand paper and sand on the post under the spring and the part of the switch that makes contact with the post it works fine for another couple of months. My theory is that when you go to fire it it arcs for a split second and creates a burnt spot which I have seen a couple of times. Also if you sand the chrome off these parts to expose the brass you get less voltage drop, which is always a good thing. Also sanding the chrome off of the positive post on the underside of the top cap helps with voltage drop.

The Panasonic NCR18650PD is a pretty high quality battery. The Panny battery should be able to easily handle a 1.0 ohm coil, so I don't think the battery is the problem.

The fire button should not be getting HOT on your mod. This most likely points to a short in your coil.

Check to see that there are no coil wires touching each other around your wick. Make sure the contacts on both the positive & negative ends of the coil are tight and secure. The upper leg of the coil should not glow, only the coil itself, and the coil should glow evenly across the length of the coil with you fire it. You may need to prod the coils with a fine tool to work out any irrregularities.

Look up a You Tube video on trouble shooting a RBA coil for shorts:
