Battery not shutting off after drag

Hi all,
I picked up an eroll for sporadic use when going out etc. (use a Vamo V3 as my usual PV, not really ideal for sticking in my pocket when going out with friends). Being pretty familiar with the ego-c atty as a former ego-t and then ego-c owner, I was excited to see a small PV option that still had the potential for great vapor production. When I first got it, it was amazing. My friends that also vape couldn't believe that so much vapor production was available in such a small package. Unfortunately, after a very short amount of time I started to have some leaking issues. More concerning, now it has an issue where it regularly doesn't shut off after taking a drag and instead stays activated until the cutoff time. The ego-c attys I have been using were purchased from fasttech and I'm not convinced that they are genuine OEM, so it is possible that this is a contributing factor. This issue is prevalent for both batteries in my kit. Has anybody else had this issue and is there any known fix? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, because I really liked this eroll and as of now it is effectively unusable.

This is fairly common if you accidentally drag from the battery side of the ecig. If you haven't done that, check out Eric's thread here in the eRoll forum about cleaning batteries - it could have been caused by your leaking problem. Also, make sure you don't break the little tabs on the battery, they're fragile!

Yep, clean the battery and it should stop lighting up after you are done with your drag.

As for the atomizers, if you bought the eRoll kit, the two included atomizers should be real. If you buy just the atomizers at Fasttech they are copies (and not good ones, IMO).

You are correct on the atomizers from Fasttech being non oem. Unfortunately my local Ecig shop (Ecig Crib) also sells knockoff ego-c atomizers that are even worse than Fasttech's. Really too bad.

My batteries and attys are Joye products and one of my batteries has just started this also. The only thing different from the others I have is that I just stared using a juice with it that one reviewer said melted parts of a clearo. I don't know if that's of any importance.

I had a battery that did this after a few weeks of use, and also a battery with a super tight draw. Soaking them in alcohol solved both issues, although I had to do it twice for the battery with a tight draw.

Now one of my batteries just refuses to charge. Cleaning did not help, but since it's the only failure I've had, it's an acceptable loss.

In regards to the battery not shutting off, which seems to happen on occasion for no particular reason, I just keep taking drags for the 10 seconds to keep air moving across the coil. This way, hopefully, it won't burn up the atty. It does get kinda intense, but since it only happens occasionally, I just kinda think of it as the Daily Double and roll with it!

I know it doesn't help the OP, but maybe he could keep from ruining an atty with this advice.

DannyOcean, it sounds like your battery is clogged up. Take a bottle of vodka, fill the bottle cap up, and place the battery in the vodka. It should be placed vertically with the end which connects to the atomizer submerged. It should only be submerged to a level which is just before the air hole. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes and let it dry. This should solve your problem. The higher proof the vodka the stronger the cleaning power.

I don't drink vodka and use surgical spirit to clean my gear. Do you think this would work with surgical spirit? Would a soak in water afterwards be OK to get rid of the smell of surge?

That's called rubbing alcohol this side of the pond. It comes in several strengths. I usually use 80 proof vodka but have used 91% rubbing alcohol. I didn't rinse with water and It tasted pretty bad so I soaked in hot water for about 10 minutes and then flushed/rinsed in cool water... oh, I guess about 5 times and that got rid of the bad taste. BTW, I don't drink either and can't taste any vodka after just rinsing with cool water.

Seems like this entire issue could be avoided by making the rubber bottom on the atomizers slightly wider so its a tight fit into the battery base and reduce potential leak into battery opening.

I've had it happen with one of the white ones that I've mentioned before seemed a bit heavier (or slightly fatter?) than the rest I bought. It only happened recently and I have no idea how much wear/tear its gotten in comparison because I rotate so much. But it doesn't keep doing it. It seems to straighten out whatever is wrong by itself.

I might be completely wrong about this, but I suspect that some of the leakage comes from the hole in the bottom of the atty rather than around the seal. This may occur more when the air hole accidentally gets covered or, in my case, is intentionally covered momentarily to prime the atty.

There may be some leaking around the seal, though, as some of these products lack strict manufacturing tolerances. Couple that with expansion and contraction of the metal due to heat and you may have a leak.

You know I have isolated this to one of my attys. I switched batteries and moved the old Atty over and guess what, within hours same issue. For $5 an Atty you would think it would not be the weak spot but it is.

This just started happening to me! This is something I hope Joyetech can address, since this is obviously a regular thing.
With me, since I'm still a relatively new vaper, I tend to still have a hard draw. If I drag on this (the same way I did for the first 5 days of using it) it gets stuck on EVERY time. I thought it could be an atomizer, I swapped it out and the same problem so it seems like it has to be the battery... I'll try soaking the battery end in alcohol and hopefully this resolves the issue...

Still amazed that someone finally created something so small that performs like the larger models. Hopefully Joyetech will continue to push new boundaries because this really looks like it could be the beginning of new technology developments that will lead to smaller more powerful PVs (for those that prefer them...)
