so the batteries I bought for my ageis classic are starts nag to show some wear. I got a dragon charger and it shows them charging to around 2200ma.
1. At what point should I retire them?
2. If I retire them should I move to 2x700s? I’ve got the adapter cap that allows me to use them but no other devices cues capable of either 26650 or 2x700 at this time.

Ageis Classic? Don't know what mod you are talking about.

What batteries are you currently using (make and model)?

And should you switch batteries, which ones were you considering?

You've been on this forum long enough to know that myself or others were going to ask these questions.

Sorry. Original ageis. The only one that takes 26650s which is what I have atm. They’re efest about a year old maybe, not sure. I’m noticing 26650s aren’t any better than 2x700s power wise, but the slim cap will be a bit annoying. The real question is how low I should let the mash on these batteries get? They started at a claimed 3000ma but I didn’t have a way to measure till recently.

Well, that would make more sense, but I'm trying to learn not to assume anything. I would still like to learn the make/model of the 18650's you are currently using and which batteries you are considering switching over to before giving any advice.

Also, what wattage setting do you typically use?

As you probably already know, its all about amp ratings, wattage settings, and wattage per battery when choosing batteries for a regulated mod.

Efest 25a x 3000ma. 26650s. I’ve only used 18650s in it a couple times.

Well it seems to me you batteries have lost a third of their capacity. . I would replace....

As to 26 vs 20 series batts.... I would use the one I can get easier and like to use more.... but note I don't vape at above 10 amps much so CDR not issue for me.

You sound like you prefer the 26000 configuration.... so it will come down to battery availability.

You can't really go by the MAH your charger tells you. MAH ratings for lithium cells are derived from a factory drain down to 2.5v and then they are charged to 4.2v. Our mods only discharge to about 3.2v to 3.3v, so the MAH displayed after charging doesn't represent the total MAH rating on the cell. You are using less than the total capacity of the cell with a mod, so the MAH replaced in the cell during charging is less than factory specs.

It's a lot like the way we fill our auto gas tanks. No one wants to take it to empty, so we fill up when it's 1/4 tank or so and it takes less to fill than the owners manual says the gas tank will hold.

That said, most 26650 cells are rated around 4000 MAH, so at 2200 you may be experiencing end of life on your 26650. Buy some new ones and compare vape time. It never hurts to have backups. Keep your old ones in case the power goes out and you need them.

My Hohm Life 26650's show something around 4000 MAH or better when charged from 3.2v to 4.2v. They are new.

These are rated at only 3500mah. They’re quite old I guess

They were slightly overrated to begin with.

I would replace them simply because there are MUCH better 26650 batteries out there.

The Basen Black/HohmGrown, Golisi, Efest green or Metallic purple, etc.
All of those are 20 amp or more and 4200 to 4400 mAh.

I agree with @diagrammatiks about the 40T. From My understanding (i may be wrong, but i honestly dont think i am) that most of the 2X700s have a lower internal resistance and run better than 26650s. I never used a 26650. But i can say from experience that the 40T is a great battery, and I doubt it will be disappointing.

I generally stopped using 26650's a while back. The capacity might be good, but at any wattage over 30W and there was too much battery sag. I got better performance from an 18650 in a sleeve to fit it and gave up on 26650s (they were decent ones on Mooch's list too, just don't remember which). I'd go with the 2x series of batteries if you want the extra runtime over an 18650.

One thing to consider with 2x700's is your charger choices. Many do not play nice with that extra 5mm over the 65mm length.

To me, runtime would be the decider. Did you once get a full day and now need to recharge after a much, much shorter time? All other things being the same performance-wise, that's when I update stuff.
