Hello all, great forum, I'm new to vaping and just purchased a smokelessimage volt pro. Quick question about the battery(or e-cig batteries in general). Is it best to let them completely die or at least get low and THEN charge. Or can we put and leave it on the charger whenever we want to? For instance, I have a fully charged e-cig, I vape for 10-20 min, does it do harm to put it right back on the charger? I guess it may have to do with battery life, as it says my battery is good for 300 charges.

I wait until it stops vaping or the end of the day, whichever comes first.

The SI batteries will stop vaping when they get to 3.4 volts, so don't worry about completely discharging them

Hi. Welcome to ECF
There is great info on li-ion batteries at Battery University dot com.
And also here at ECF under the Battery Issues Subforum. See the stickie Batteries-THE TRUTH.
I recommend you get very familiar with battery education. You will become a better vaper the more you know about batteries.
Enjoy
Keep comin back. We'll look for you.

Running a lithium battery until low voltage shutoff will greatly decrease its lifespan. Some devices combat this by setting shut off voltage to a higher voltage, ie: 3.4v, and it is completely fine to run those devices to LVSO. As a general rule a lithium-ion should never go below 3.0v unless otherwise stated in the data sheet. Below 3v the lifespan decreases rapidly, below 2.75 your safety rapidly decreases.

Anyone that is even remotely unsure of proper lithium battery usage should invest some time at Battery University. You WILL learn something.

I looked up some information on lithium batteries when I first started vaping and I also learned that it's bad to let them drain completely. I charge mine often.

I stick mine on the charger when they reach 3.5v. That's in the range where battery life is optimized. If you let them get to the 3.2v cutoff, they take longer to charge and lose a little lifespan. The more you discharge them, the more battery charge life is compromised. It's all about stress. You should also only charge them to about 40% if you plan to store them for a while. Li-ion batts don't like to be stored at full charge.
