Vaughanie, just make sure whatever GG unit you are using can accommodate the WIDTH of these, at 26.20mm, they are WIDE & FAT
Info From link:
Size : 26.20mm ( diameter ) x 50.40mm ( height ) +/- .05mm

The more normal sizes are:
16340 = 16mm diameter x 34mm long
14500 = 14mm diameter x 50mm long
Since CR2s don't seem to use the same system I measured mine at:
CR2 = 15.2mm diameter x 27.6mm long

so no option, look at GG battery options here:

I'd say depends on what you are looking for. If it's for a new flashlight, you'd spend a few years there, tons of info. I did a multiple of searches on "batteries", brands, chargers, etc., got good information the more narrow my searches became. These folks buy and run a lot of batteries, many the same kind used in the GG mods as well as other makers, and on the high-end, they can get into very expensive large hobby batteries and costly chargers, that for our purposes here, while great, would not be cost effective, unless of course you had some other devices with expensive batteries, or hey a decent FLASHLIGHT! :)

So is owning a multimeter critical for safety for use with unprotected li-ion battery use at high voltage in a P.V. ? If so shouldn't people be warned in advance and strongly advised to purchase a multimeter when buying such batteries from suppliers AND instructed how to use them with their P.V.?

Strikes me that most people would be ignorant of these issues. I certainly was.

Well personally, I would not use any "unprotected" battery. First link below is to a thread on the CandlePower forum. In my opinion and other more knowledgeable people, using a digital voltmeter is considered a smart recommendation for both safety and in knowing if your battery charger is "overcharging", as well as in prolonging the life of the rechargeable batteries. Whether consumers should be "warned" or "advised", well it's still a "buyer beware" world out here, as well as a lot of misinformation, so the more information and knowledge you gather, the better chance you have of making an educated decision on what you choose to buy and use. Hope this helps, not confuses. If instructions are followed there is no reason NOT to use rechargeable batteries, but since just about every site that sells these batteries mentions the potential hazards, there are certainly good reasons for doing so. Below are some links and excerpts to help anyone interested in learning more get started, but there is certainly much more information out there depending on how deep you want to go.

You may have a point here, Vaughanie, I could ofer this information on my site although when one gets too technical, it just turns many people off completely.

I do state clearly which of my batteries are protected an un-protected as well as providing this in downloadable form and I also send it as a card with EVERY battery purchase:

I went out and bought a sexy new multimeter today... :)

So, I'm feeling uber nerdy....

I can well understand that for a business model this could be a turn off. One supplier with a well known metal cylinder mod that will take 6v has decided only to sell only the larger format batteries that can't be put in series. Headache for you, since of course safety is still important.
