So far I have a total of 5 automatic batteries (standards) and one manual battery (xl). One of those 5 batteries is really flaky (it was already replaced) and that and one other battery have some charging problems, they will only charge on the wall chargers (of which I have two) and not at all on the 3 (now) usb chargers I have. In addition, while it's somewhat versatile and it works and there's lots of the equipment already out there, the hodgepodge of adapters for things like vehicle charging and the like can be daunting in cramped cars.
I was looking at the battery the other day and thinking through it and I don't see a reason why a micro-usb style charging port couldn't be introduced to the battery design. It would still use the same charging current that exists presently, so no need to reinvent the wheel, and the port could be placed virtually anywhere on the housing. This would allow for easy charging connection and would also be interchangeable with some pretty common charging scenarios like most cell phones. The best part is that since the connector on the top of the battery has to remain in tact for the cartos to fit if this port were added the battery could still be charged via the legacy chargers that are available.
Just some food for thought since Leaford is across the pond anyway.
