Hey Everyone,
I just ordered my first Vamo V3 from fasttech and they are sending me 2 batteries (Sony 18650V3) Has anyone had any experience with these batteries? Im also getting a Nitecore charger with the bundle. Also what are some decent sources for batteries?
I've got Lighthound so far but I haven't came across anymore lately.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

After reading far too many technical web sites about batteries and the dangers associated with them I've been buying only AW and MNKE's. The idea of having something go wrong on a questionable battery that i'm holding next to my face makes the extra money spent seem worth it :)

I don't pretend to know everything about batteries, but there seems to be pretty universal agreement to the "you get what you pay for" with batteries.

Yeah I can see what you mean. I'm kinda weary cause I got the whole kit for pretty darn cheap so I was hoping to see if maybe someone might have used those batteries in particular before but they're coming with the kit so I'll run with these for now and get some AW IMR's next month let just hope the battery saint is on my side and doesn't let them blow up in my face 8-o.

i too use the panny 18650ch, aw, and efest. the nitecore charger works well for me, i have the i4. them sonys should be fine in the vamo, as it has built in protection. be careful buying batteries, ie only use trusted/well known vendors. too many stories of people getting knockoffs on ebay.
I just hope Fasttech doesn't screw me over

The Sony us18650v3 IMR is a recommended battery for APV use. As others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with the red AW IMR 18650 batteries, either. Nitecore is also a recommended charger brand.

RTD Vapor is the preferred vendor for batteries, chargers, battery cases, multimeters, Kicks, and other vape related gear. You can rest assured if they sell it, it is safe to use for our vaping applications. Some websites that will go un-named here, do sell "un-protected" Li Ion batteries alongside protected Li Ion, IMRs, and hybrid batteries, so buyer beware. Know exactly what you are buying from online websites that do not specifically cater to vapors.

I've written the following guide for novices that explains Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected?

fasttech was a good source for batts., i do not think they will be shipping them anymore. i have heard many people have been getting refunded on battery purchase through them due to the shipping crack down on lithium cells.

I thought that they had a new shipping method available, no?

This and I am still wondering how Made in Japan labeled battery sells/ships from China.
I would never order Made in Japan items from China, sounds like knock-of.

Panasonic ncr18650pd is about the best you can get for a vv/vw device. Make sure to buy the unprotected ones. Protected batteries are actually more unsafe than unprotected in most situations. AW IMR is also a good choice, just with those Panasonics you get a lot more MAH, which is good for a vv/vw.
I realize you are speaking specifically about the Panasonic PD's, which are a hybrid battery. However, making a general statement that "protected batteries are actually more unsafe than unprotected in most situations" can be erroneous and poor advice if taken out of context.

"Unprotected" can mean either of two things:

  • IMR safe chemistry batteries are often referred to as "unprotected". Not protected because they use safer chemicals and don't require a protection circuit built-in. SAFE FOR USE IN A MOD.
  • There are "un-protected" Li Ion batteries. These are the same chemistry batteries used in protected Li Ions, but without the protective circuit and SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN A MOD. I've seen these listed on FastTech, alongside their protected Li Ion and IMR batteries. These batteries are used in other applications other than in mods, and is why they are sold by FastTech. FastTech does not make a distinction of their batteries' application of use, therefore the responsibility of knowing which battery should be purchased lies completely on the consumer.

Calling batteries unprotected can be mistaken to mean safe chemistry IMRs, which is not necessarily true. The battery chemistry must be known in order to know if it is indeed safe to be used in a mod. I felt I needed to point that out, no attack meant on you.

China has no issue sending batteries for cell phones, I Pads, and laptops, so that may say something about the quality of the batteries fasttech sends.
