Battery Wrapper?

I just peeled off the wrapper of a TF 18650. I was curious and stupid....

Anyway, can this battery be safely used again if I either put heat shrink on it or wrap it in electrical tape? Or maybe just covered that metalic strip from bottom to top with tape?

Sure, I would think so. Heat shrink would be better than the original covering.

The plastic cell wrapper also keeps the protection board in place. There is another metal strip under the board that goes from a solder joint on the board to a spot welded point on the cell negative end. If that moves around then the connection will break. Vinyl tape may not be rigid enough to hold the board but it may help.


The cell will appear dead if the connection between the circuit board and the negative end is lost.
This can happen with one hard drop to the floor.
