I sent my russian back because I was extremely disappointed by the performance, but to fix your issue, mod willing. What I did was hold the block matching the negative post with some needle nose pliers. I then cranked that 510 pin in as hard as I could, built carefully and it solved the problem.

I ended up returning my russian after I had washed it about 10 times with every single thing recommended to me, wicked numerous times with cotton then silicia and couldn't get the nasty metal taste out of it. I bought a kayfun clone and realized man this is a GREAT 30 dollar atty, just not worth 100+.

I avoided the Russian and bought the EHPro kayfun 3.1 after reading about issues with various implementations. It's been pretty much trouble free since I learned what makes it work optimally. I like a spring loaded center pin better than a hard stop pin, but I've had to no connectivity issues in the month or so I've used it.

I paid $49 for the EHPro and probably could have saved a few bucks buying another version without the collector cap. That cap was hard to deal with until I finally got it off and cleaned up the threads. Now, it comes off smoothly every time once I loosen the center pin a turn or two and it provides a place for leakage to accumulate. Most of the time, It's empty when I remove it to refill and I never get leaks as long as I use the bottom screw hole instead of removing the top cap.

My gripe with a fixed center pin is the lack of spring pressure when you screw it down on the connector. It's a hard stop with no give. Mine stays put, but I noticed lately that the screw slot was starting to dig into the center connector on my Provari. I had some fine "fish paper", which is a super fine sandpaper, and used it to polish up the edges on the slotted head of the center pin on my Kayfun and that stopped the scratching on the Provari center contact.

Don't think i've been on the site in over a year, glad I didn't read this thread before getting my 91% though. I might've been dissuaded from purchasing. I run mine on a Provari also, but have had 0 problems with it. First time building a micro coil after a quick dish soap wash and I was off to the races. Took a few minutes to get the hang of the air screw, but after that it vaped great. I don't know where everyone is buying their Russian 91's from, but Kindney Puncher has the v2's with the v1 center pins.
