This is what I would like most in the tank market. A standardized coil fitting would open up so much to us. I would buy so many other tanks to try out if this were the case. But I tend to stick with the ones that I have coils for, like most people do I think, which is something that these companies could overcome. How great would it be to be able to use your favorite coil in a variety of tanks?! And vice versa!

kanger did that after the first few tanks came out, the same coil fits every device except the first couple which was nice. it sucks having to buy 3 different coils for 3 different tanks etc.
It would be nice but nearly impossible to get the main clearo Mfg'rs to make a universal coils size that would fit everyones device of course the device would all have to be the same in so far as the mounting, threading and area where it mounts -vs- the chimney location.
I think it would limit design ideas to a degree but would surely be good for the consumer Ha Ha!

Not too much experience dripping, but lots of positive comments about the plume veil. I would like to try it.

That's another of my favorite RDAs. It's right up there with the Magma and the Dark Horse, for me!

2. Wow, trying to keep up with this thread is almost impossible. I've just read through pages and pages of posts since this morning! Lots of great information though!

I forget what all I wanted to say now.

On the subject of drip tips, I have a variety of them, the style, shape and material do make a difference in the flavor and warmth or coolness of the vape to me. I like the tower style tips the best for some of my tanks and I like the wider bore tips for drippers and the subtanks. I rarely use the tips that came with a tank. I also don't like acrylic or plastic tips at all. I prefer metal or glass. It's all a matter of preference and what works for you. I bought a huge glass wide bore. super tall tip the other day. I had no clue how big it was going to be when I purchased, it was pretty and looked smaller than it is. I've come to like it even though I look funny taking a puff on it because it's so wide. I've never paid more than a few dollars for a tip though, I don't see paying $20 or $30 for a tip, I'd rather buy another tank for that much.

02/20/2015 Entry #1 . . .

WOW ! ! ! There is so much that's been said that I want to respond to for the past 2 days was going to write a huge post up last night, but thought better about it until today and glad I did . . . So - going to divide it up a little to make it easier for everyone, especially "Me" since I can get carried away sometimes . . .

AND - As the :rules: state first post NEEDS to be . . .

Something I would like in - or see in - the CactusEsmokes Mechanicals & More store:

GREAT IDEA - Particularly for someone who is new and even somewhat interested in "Rebuilding" coils . . . Although I am very hesitant for a number of reason - nor really wanted to get into "building coils at all (Since I really want & need to keep things as simple as it was to purchase a PAC) . . . The one thing that keeps "Me" from even going forward in any attempt to start this process is not only that everyone has a different opinion on what is needed or someone should use - It is the complexity of trying to find what is NEEDED to even attempt a trial run, and worse having to go to so many different venders site to find where I can get all the "Stuff" at a reasonable inexpensive price and then have to pay all those shipping cost on top of that . . .

SO YES - A Beginners RBA/RBD Kit ! ! ! OH YEA - Without a doubt, it would have to include all the basic tools, different types/sizes of Wire, as would different "wicking" materials (including the Rayon Cellu Cotton), and most important of all - even though there are a vast number of "How To" videos out there for people to watch - WRITTEN CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS ! ! !

Now even with that said - I am probably not going to change "My" mind about getting into rebuilding coils (matter of fact, I have 3 generic RBA that I am going to be getting rid of) - but I am sure some people would find this all in one kit very helpful if it was available to them . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

BBL . . . ;)

you like many people probably have some of the tools already around the house, needle nose pliers and a small pair of wire cutters, you can by cotton balls organic or not at a local drug store if you dont already have them and a roll of kanthal wire from Temco (28ga is a great starter and beyond size) for $5 or $6 shipped free from Temco, if your device has an ohm meter then ythat will work fine for ball park readings of resistance so, really aside from wire an atty is all you need to buy many come with a small blue screw driver, I prefer an ordinary 1/8" drill bit for 90% of my coil ventures. if you have most of the basic stuff already then it is a small cost to get started.

I offered free basic attys to a FB group I belong to here for anyone that wanted to check out building attys and the crickets chirped....:blink:

I have the urge to spend $20 or so on a drip tip but can't afford it. I do however believe that drip tips do matter as much as any other piece of vape gear... that includes the juice. The diameter of the air hole can give a heavier or more concentrated vape or can make it fill the mouth in different ways. The length can warm or cool a vape. It can also help you get the most out of the coil you are using. I know with a couple of set ups that if I use a small inner diameter tip that I will end up burning the coil in a matter of no time and if I use a wider inner diameter that I can actually prevent burning if I pay attention. I personally prefer a Pawn or gourd shaped drip tip or a vase type... all over 1 inch for mouth comfort. I notice that with the wider tips that I tend to not get my mouth completely over the tip but I use the wider ones when dripping as easier to hit the hole when dripping. Don't care for metal tips as they heat up on me too much.

If you have a few different style/length/width tips, why not try a couple hits off one then try that same juice with a few others and see if you can notice the difference I do?

I notice the difference in flavor and vapor by changing drip tips too. I've gotten so I don't like anything with a small hole at all any more.

I do like metal, but I know there are a lot of people who don't.

I agree that a small spool of wire and some cotton would be nice, but I figured this to be a tool kit only. Asking for wire and cotton is, in my mind, akin to asking for nails and wood when you buy a hammer.

As to the torch, most every video that comes to the surface in a search of YouTube features a torch. I've since found some that do not... if I had not stopped into a B&M and seen that a torch was not necessary. As it is, I've managed to build 4 successfully without a torch, but I can see a need...

you do not need a torch. if you feel you have to heat your wire then a bic lighter works fine. ask Tick he has his wife hold the wire while he heats it so he doesnt burn his fingers

ok, time for an entry post.

For a great little workhorse to use with anything, this baby fits that bill and used all the duo kanger coils, so you save money that way as well.

Kangertech T3D BDC Clearomizer

be careful if you use with a APV, it is not rated for high wattage....
works well with your ego, spinners and mods as well. great little clearo if you want to know what your juice taste like without filling a bigger tanks.

yes, a dripper and most old clearos do taste real different....

For those that are just starting out. the rest of us know that.

wow ...I checked these out on the site and only $4.00. I really need some of those as that is exactly what I was looking for to taste different juices. Right now I only have 3 tanks and 2 vaporizers and if I get new juices I have to wait to try them and it drives me crazy.....I guess everyone has a lot of different tanks which I hope to get but these would work out great in the meantime. Thanks for mentioning them!!!

Great! The posts I enjoy the most are ones like this. Some people love watching cat videos (I do too), but getting the first hand details about the life changing effects of vaping never gets old. I also have all the zippos and ashtrays stocked away in a cabinet along with some loose tobacco and rolling equipment from when I used to make my own ciggys. I should probably toss that stuff out!

The ash trays are great on the desk for holding paper clips and things, and some else mentioned using one as a spoon holder on the stove. Just throw away the ugly ones and repurpose the nice ones!

I've had this discussion with my neighbor-friend who also vapes but in the context of what we would do if vaping were outlawed. I was saying (also probably a bit self-deluded) that in this scenario I think I might possibly be able to not relapse to the smokes just because I too can get through the day a lot easier than when I smoked on very little vaping. He pointed out how many times all of us quit during our pre-vaping lives...maybe for a week, a month or even longer, and every time we wound up relapsing! Yep, I'm pretty sure he's got me there! So I too think it is paramount that we not have to be put into this ridiculous position in the future.

vapers that relapse should consider another big lawsuit against the FDA, ALA, ACS, big tobacco etc. for health related expense and deaths... kind of like a group etc. removing airbags and seat belts from cars because of some sort of agenda... bad analogy but you get my point. shame on any group that wants to ban Vaping because of political correctnes or monetary agendas!

It is true that Diameter and length do make a difference in flavor temperature and vapor, finding that spot for each device and flavor can be a challenge at times
And not just delrin. I really like the look and function of the Kamry K1000 epipe, but that long aluminum pipe stem... it has a very cool vape, which I don't mind, but the vapor condenses and the next hit can be a bit damp. And here I thought I was done with pipe cleaners...

So I was looking on the site. Figured if I won I would try to sneak an order in past my wifey. Did not see any wire, do you carry it?

I do have wire, depends on how much you want. I will just send you some no charge just PM me.
if you need a full roll I would point you to Temco

Such good information to have. One of the reasons I never really got with the kayfuns was watching my friend take his apart to recoil, especially when there was still juice in the tank. What a mess to deal with! So it sounds like this comes apart just like my beloved protanks, which is a much better design for when you need to refill, rebuild or just tinker and fine tune your coil.

Kanger should emphasize this because it makes me want one even more! Thanks for the post Kathi :)

Yeah, it's just like your beloved Protanks in ease of filling, and if you've got a tank full of juice and need to change a stock coil in the middle, you don't need to empty the tanks!

Bruce has alot he does not list on his site due to space concerns. Just ask him like you did and he will get back to you. You can also PM him or talk to him in person using that old school thing called a telephone. I hear he even has one of those new thingies called a cellular phone and it may even be a smart one at that. snickers.....

you are right about most of that Tick but I no longer have a smart phone but it does do Text messaging as well

Indeed the T3D is a little known tank, much like the mini protank 3 (very little difference) or a baby Aerotank mini. few shops have them. I have always loved them.
I think I have what stock is left for cheap... just looked, yea $4.00 not bad as they used to go for around $10 or $12.00. I know a few shops that still have them for around $8 to $10

02/20/2015 Entry #2 . . .

Everyone has pretty much answered "Your" question, however I would like to add that - IMO - having this attitude and perspective to connect to your customer base really makes a difference between a decent/good vender and a GREAT Vendor for almost all of the people here on ECF, especially to those who are struggling with the "Transition into the Vaping World" for a number of reasons . . . THANKFULLY - I have meet a few of them . . . AND - From personal experience, I for a fact know that if there weren't for the ECF "Family" I have gotten to know well and venders like yourself who have gone out of their way - I probably would not be continuing to be so determined to become a "Full-Time" vapor . . . Just Sayin' . . .

As many people here can probably tell Ya' - I've so . . . BEEN THERE ! ! ! ;)

SO DITTO ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ What He Said . . . ;)

YEA - I know . . . :thumb: AND - THANK YOU for the invite (some others have also tried to entice "Me" to take a seat on the porch too ), however given the tenor of some of the conversations - and being the "Old Curmudgeon" that I can be at times - I really think it is better if I stay in that tree just "lurking"
70555232_p.gif
, especially when I can learn so much from all those other "Curmudgeons" . . . ;)

OKAY - You "Cacti" are Very Very Bad . . .
5bf230635101440c776402e32c87e55a.jpg

AND - NOT NICE to leave "Us" all in the dark by not providing a link to the other thread for anyone that wants to become a "Cactus" here:

animated-smileys-shocked-002.gif
"ME" ? ? ? ? ;)

Anyway - THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU . . . I really do appreciate "You" going out of your way to assist me in finding a "True Menthol Tobacco" to become "My" ADV and help to finally become a "Full-time" vapor . . . However, "MINT" ain't gonna do it - nor even come close, especially since almost every "Menthol" I've tried out there is made with some form of mint that just doesn't work for "Me" . . . That's just one of the reasons why this has been so hard to find an "E-Liquid" with a "True MENTHOL" Flavor . . . They all taste very sweet and similar to the supposed menthols like Salem's/Newport's/Winston-Marlboro-Camel-BH/etc. which I could never ever stand even when I was desperate for a cigarette . . . NONE of them tasted or had the "Menthol" like "Kool" cigarettes . . . Even though I will probably never find anything like that "TRUE Menthol" I would like to get somewhat close to it . . . BTW: I also try to avoid any "E-Liquid" that has "diacetyl", "acetoin", and any "Suger/Sugar Subsitutes" too . . . NOT GOOD ! ! ! Especially for those of "Us"' with Diabetes . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;) AND - that's is why the search is so difficult . . . Thankfully, I have a number of ECF "Friends" like "You" trying to help me find one and I do have some "E-Liquid" flavors I can use in the meantime . . .

SO DITTO ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ What She Said . . . ;)

To be honest - While personally I would really like to share and PIF to "You" - I'm sorry to say . . .

NOPE - NA DA - NOT HAPPENING ! ! !
shaking-no-smiley-emoticon.gif

At least not right now - "You" just gonna have to wait, since it's been too cold down here for the past couple of days since you all keep sending down that "Artic Blast" . . . It was in the 30's at night (Broke records here) and it hasn't warmed up yet . . . So - Maybe when "We" get back to "Normal" temps Ya' can have some . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Okay - I think that's enough, at least for this post . . .:tumble:

Nothing else to read here - "You" Can All Move Along . . .

graphics-police-659493.gif

Nice Post! really nice post! Thanks!

Your welcome.
it's funny how the different tanks, drippers and clearo seem to change the taste of a juice. I still use my egos, spinners as well as my mod and vamo, plus the Box Troll. each gives the same taste pay but muted, softer, harder and sometimes even changing it a bit. Why I drip some juice, use this or that tank or clearo with another. Funny how one is awesome in a simple T3 but is not dripping or using a tank and the same goes backwards. Not that the juice is bad but how I like the flavor. mmm, ok, I think I am rambling on. oldtimers at it's finest...

And therein lies the crux of the dilemma: unless one has a variety of drip tips, such an experiment is nigh-impossible. The drip tips I own are all from tanks that have removable drip tips--cone-shaped ones from Evod Glass, tube-shaped ones from PT3 Mini and Aerotank v1, and kayfunesque bullet-shaped ones from Aerotank Mega, Mini, and v2--as well as three cheap plastic "ming"-style drip tips I picked up on a whim to achieve free shipping (and that cost me a grand total of $1.50). This selection hardly lends itself to true experimentation, as the experience is similar across the board (with the exception of the plastic drip tips) because the tanks are so similar.

once you get a device that comes with a chuff or accepts a chuff an entirely new world opens up... Its ridiculous Ha Ha!

laughs, sure if you don't mind passing out from lack of breath til you get use to it. Bruce has tried many things to kill me in the past. Dripping, (burns and sharpe little bits of metal in my fingers and feet), Mister Owl (steals things and stares at ya til you just curl up in a little ball), chuff drip tip if you can call it a tip, (first breath, was hotter than heck, full of hot juice and took all my breath). Fell over, hit my head on a sharp rock, (don't ask, it's my story), then bleeding fell off the chair into a thousand foot hole in the floor, (rumoured it was one of the pits of hell by the old owner) finally to hit bottom, (not mine, the bottom of the pit of hell) and waking up to see 3 dogs looking at me funny...

gee thanks Bruce. :glare:

It's almost like the ex has promised him half of the insurance money.

But I hear he loves his other friends and customers....... :p
