So much of my vaping experience has felt backwards, and buying a mod just for it's wrap was not the last either. Regarding your procurement, I would recommend the old addage "shoot first, ask later" as particularly apropos :p

Another that I just remembered was when I got my spinner. I ordered a couple of evod tanks a week or two later and loved the pink one. You can probably guess what I did next. I had to go and get a pink spinner!

Yeah I did the whole backward thing too, I went from my first ego to a AltSmoke BB with a vivi nova to an iHybrid, later I tried cartos and carto tanks and stuff like that. I do not suggest that route to others tho.

Love all the great feedback about the Subtank. I've even learned the potential pit falls of the few complaints and know to watch out for the o-rings and building properly to avoid the dry hits. One other thing that I saw on a review where the person complained was that they didn't like the looks. I think it is a pretty nifty looking tank!

only negative I've heard is that people want another one but cant afford it yet

The contest doesn't end until tonight at midnight PST, so you are okay, plus, east coasters get an extra 3 hours, since I made it so the west coasters would have until midnight! :)

Tomorrow we will know the winners.! :)
I realized that earlier....lol I was sleepy and confused :) Thank you for letting me know 100 % sure!

I agree. It's a very classy looking tank! I like the red O rings, they add a splash of color when I use it on my black EMech!

"Do as I say, not as I do" right?! I really am at a loss for giving advice to new vapers at this point because they might as well just get the good stuff right off the bat. They have it so so much easier than just a year or two ago. It is such a layup to get started with inexpensive, wonderful equipment that the only real worry is that they get a greedy retail sales person that tries to sell them on an overprices ego-ce4 starter kit.

I was in the vape store near me talking to the owners and a young guy walked in. He had started vaping recently and was there to browse, when one of the owners asked what he was using, he pulled out of his pocket an istick30 with a Subtank. I was kind of taken aback!! But that is the way it should be now, in my opinion.

Stosh... I don't think I got into the over flavoring thing much when I started DIY. I know some get upset when you follow the recipes of another and not create your own but felt when starting out, that was the best way to go... Spread my wings later in a way. I ran across recipes from HeadInClouds (HIC) and most are what I thought might be quite low in flavorings but made to recipe the first time and they were good as they were for the most part. I have adjusted flavorings in a couple but not by very much, always doing as written the first time. I tend to get scared off by some with super high flavorings in the recipes and if looks like something I might like, I will take the ones that have over 20% flavorings and only use half of what they call for and see if that works or not. Most times, that is even too much but then some flavorings are more potent than others but figure if I do half of the flavoring, I can always add more.

My son seems to like his Cap Vanilla Custard at about 12% or so but that is down from the 15% originally called for in the recipe. If I make a custard vape for myself, I use the custard at about 8% and then use cheesecake to mellow it out because to me the custard is really sweet and can have a bitter taste at high percentages if alowed to steep for a few weeks.

Batteries bother me in box mods. I know they shouldn't. I know that's where box mods started. But I have a hard time taking the Sig or the K-box and a host of others seriously when they want as much (or more) for the empty box as Eleaf wants for a sealed system. I suppose that replaceable batteries means that the hardware will outlast the battery...

Alright, you vaping pros, why should I choose an empty box over a filled box?

I love everything red. I finally got my kitchen aid mixer at the Holidays and I got the red one! When I first saw the Subtank with the red rings I knew I had to have one just for the red haha! That it is probably everyone's favorite is just a bonus :p

I know that some really enjoy making coils and even find it relaxing and therapeutic. For me it is just another chore to put off until the last minute. I have been known to break out every last vapable tank or dripper until I have not choice...kinda like what I do with my clothes LOL!

But the reward of finally getting down to business and recoiling everything plus even winding a few extra coils for later is pure happiness!! And like a lot of chores (at least for me), once I get going I can get on a roll and do much more than I had planned.
I like building coils :) After I get my coils built I always feel proud of myself and so happy! Lol I cannot believe I have so many that needs rebuilt. I guess it has alot to do with my puppy. He is always around trying to "help me" ....putting his fat nose in my coil stuff...stealing wire, wick, or anything he can get his teeth on...then he starts biting me and suddenly wanting to play. Lol I have been behind so I cannot blame the pup completely :)

It isn't that I don't think they shouldn't have good set ups, but rebuildables and hybrids are not a good option for new vapers, so much can go wrong and needing to understand a lot all at once, such as ohm's law, battery safety, shorts, hot spots, wrapping coils using an ohm or multi meter.

The big choice of the day for me, I think the mini would go well with my regular size that I chose a few days ago!

I can tell you why I prefer a box mod with a replaceable battery. If something happens with the battery in a sealed system, or when the batt wears out......you have to buy a whole new device, rather than replace a 8.00 battery. Also, with a sealed system, you need something to vape while it's charging, with batts, just take one out, pop the new one in, keep vaping! You still need backup devices, but most of us at least have what we started with. By the time the batt in sealed system is at it's end, some folks are ready for a new device anyhow, but I don't have the $ to keep buying new stuff, so I like being able to replace a battery and keep using my device.

plus, some of those usb ports can be hard to get the cord into, so I'm afraid I may mess it up.

I don't buy that argument anymore. I did at first--who wants to be left with a device you can't use? But my MVP has lasted me for nearly a year (used nearly daily). It's slowing down, but not dead. And, over the course of that year, so many improvements have been made, it seems crazy not to think of an upgrade.

The one advantage I can think of is that you can carry around extra batteries if you are unable to charge your device.

TY for the details. I am on the fence about making a move to 26650 devices just because I would need new sized batteries and charger, so I was hoping that the Maraxus, which is 18650 would be the front runner. Love the way both devices look, though - and want one!

I don't think the Kryptonite has been around for all that long, but the Maraxus has been around for at least a year. I like my Maraxus a lot, but the Kryptonite is much nicer. It is more comfortable to hold, and I think it's much easier to fire.

Most of it is just that, the hardware does outlast the battery. For a new vaper or someone who likes to get new toys that may not mean much. But for someone like me that doesn't get new devices often it can mean a lot. Take my empire for example, no it isn't a box mod, but I have had it for over 2 years and my friend who sent it to me had it for something like 2 years before that. You don't get that sort of life out of built in battery stuff.

Awesome pricing there powerband! Now that I've found out about your website I'm gonna have to check frequently for sales like that! I think I paid about $40 some for mine, although it was not recently.

I used to run my Vamo in the 8 to 11 watt range. I like the Vamo V3 and V5. just blew out the last of them I had @ $15.00 each, they went pretty quick

Either style will work well, depends on your likes and needs, in general.....

If you have stacks of 18650s and a few chargers laying around...empty box
If you only have one or two mods and want to switch batteries easily when they need a charge....empty box
If you like a built to last mod....empty box
If you can envision using the box to build your own mod....empty box

If you can use you mod as a pass through (have power available)....sealed system
If you have more mods than you could use the charge in a week....sealed system
If you want the simplest to deal with....sealed system
If you want the added amperage a LiPo battery give you....sealed system
If you like chasing the latest, greatest, without breaking the bank...sealed system

I've opted for a number of both types, and they both serve their purpose quite well.....:vapor:
