Hello everyone,

I've posted a few times in the past few days, and have gotten great feedback. I'm new, and want to put together a "beginners" kit. I know I could buy a standard "beginners kit", and I still might, but the ego twist batteries sound awesome. I really liked the suggestion someone gave me in another post:

2 ego-C twist 1000 mAh batteries (3.2V-4.8V)

(and/or one 650)

1 USB Charger
1 carry case
5 cartomizers
and an assortment of 5 flavors. (You don't know what you like till you try it.)

Can anyone help me with a more specific setup? I know there are many different kinds of cartomizers, but what kind do I need? I just don't want to place an order and find that I've forgotten some essential part. Do I just need a battery and cartomizer to get off and running (with juice, of course)? Or do I need extra stuff like "atomizer heads", etc.?

Everyone who has posted so far: thanks SO MUCH for your tips and suggestions so far.

I'd definitely get a 1000 and a 650- use the 650 for out and about. You'll also need a 510 atomizer to test new juices before committing a carto to it. I'd also suggest buying sampler juice kits until you know what you like. More often than not new vapers end up with lots of 30 ml bottles of juice they can't stand. Also when buying cartos standard resistance work better on the Twist. I would also buy extra cartos or clearomizers as it's normal for first timers to burn a couple of cartos when starting. Be aware there are QC issues with Boge and Smok Tech cartos at this time- tasting horrible and not lasting long.
Good Luck.

As far as cartomizers go, I'd look for anything in the range of 2.0 - 3.0 ohms for their resistance rating. Smoktech and Boge are well-known brands, and you can get a 5-pack for fairly cheap. As for the voltage you want when you put them on your twist, I'd google search "vaping voltage ohms chart". It will show you a graph with the recommended range of voltages you can use with the particular ohm resistance rating of your cartomizer.

As for ordering 2 twists, I'd recommend it, unless you want a smaller battery for taking out in public. The Twist is kinda long, I'd say it's about 7" or 8" with a cartomizer screwed on. Unless you don't care what people think, then maybe the shorter 650mah battery would be more discreet when you're out and about.

And finally, juices. I just ordered a handful of different flavors from Mt. Baker Vapor. They're regarded as quality vendors who make their stuff in-house for reasonable prices. A 15ml bottle of juice is $4.99, and if you order over $15 worth of juice, they will throw in a free 15ml bottle of the flavor of the month. Their shipping is also cheap, like $3 for a USPS envelope.
Just look for the flavors that are rated 4-5 stars and you'll be golden. I ordered ecto cooler, kahlua, extreme ice, and green apple.

For cartos, you could go with a rebuildable Startust from GotVapes or other vendors. It is easier to fill than a fillered carto, you can see how much juice you have left and it fits very nicely with an eGo type battery. The coil can be cleaned and they last for weeks. You can also replace the heads and if you so desire, the coil can be easily rebuilt.

If you decide to go with a Boge or a Smoktech carto, you way want to also get a drip tip and a cone for the eGo threads. In either case I also recoment getting an atomizer to test juices before committing them to a carto (a drip tip is must in this case).

Dual coils Cartomizers aren't recommended for the twist. You can run them, and I have, but it reduces the life of the batterys. 2 ohm single coil smoktechs work rather well on the twist. They run well around 3.8 - 4.2 and leaves you room to turn up the voltage when the coil starts getting gunked up and the vapor starts dropping off. Like they've said, the 650mah battery is a better option when your out. I end up taking my 1000's out of my pocket whenever I sit due to the length.

THANKS guys. One more question: if I buy cartomizers/clearomizers, I do NOT need atomizers, correct?

You may want to use an atomizer to test juices by dripping before filling a carto. Once you commit a juice to a fillered cartomizer, it is pretty hard to get the flavor out of it and when you add different juice to it the old flavor will linger. This is not such a big problem with filler-less clearomizers. Unless the original juice is very strong, the old flavor will be gone within a few puffs as long as you empty the tank.
