First of all I would like to say thank you to all of you that have posted on this forum for providing me with the proper knowledge to even attempt a RBA.

So I got my new Cobra yesterday and rushed to set it up. I decided on using the Petar K. method before it arrived and studied all the information on these forums that I could find. Here’s my setup:

400 ss mesh 35mm by 40mm rolled tightly to 5/64" 32 gauge kanthal with a 4/5 wrap. 1.6ohm @ 4v

After precisely following the method I filled the tank up and put a little juice on the coil and fired it up. I had one little hot spot on the bottom coil which I adjusted by moving it ever so slightly and then all was well. I put the cap on for my first vape. Assuming since this was my first build I'd need to use the genesis "tilt" to get proper juice flow, since their was no way that my first attempt was going to have wicking due to all the problems Ive read about new users struggling with. I was wrong, this thing wicks like a champ, anything over 8 o'clock floods the thing and fills the top cap...

Ok, on to vaping. I'm use to the heat and the crackling sound of a ViVi Nova and the genesis has neither. That’s taking some getting use to as this cool quiet vape isn't at all the same. Sometimes I wonder if the thing is working at all until I feel the vapor start to build in my mouth and lungs. So Im chain vaping away and after the fourth or fifth pull I'm light headed and feeling great. Man does this thing deliver the nicotine or what! I’m glad I’m at 6mg or I'd probably only get to take a vape every 20 minutes LOL.

So I’m not tasting any metal or getting any dry hits but I continue to think that I’ve got to be developing hotspots at some point right? I think I’m starting to wear down the top cap O-rings because I keep removing the cap to check for them. Each time I’m relieved to not find any. I’ve begun to trust that I will know when one develops by taste or dry hit.

All in all Ive learned to vape slowly, not tilt or hold it at anything greater than 8 o'clock and quit checking for hotspots.

As the title suggests, is this beginners luck or was I just properly prepared and thats why my results turned out so well . I felt confident in what I had learned and the result was that it paid off.

I hope next time goes as well as this time. :)

It sounds like you were properly perpared :) Be prepared for it not always going so smooth though. I studied Zen's video (on the provape site) to watch how her set up the ZAP and set up my did clone the exact same way and it works beautifully. I too got a little discouraged reading all the problems that others were having but I keep trying and learning and figure I'm not having near the problems some are having. I remember when tanks first came out and everyone was posting about them flooding... I figured out tanks pretty fast and have had no issues for over a year now using them. Glad you got it working so fast :D (If I can do it, anyone can!)
