I always grew.up around.smokers. My mother smoked and still smokes a PAD. Before we moved to.where we currently are, she smoked indoor. So I always had the familiarity of cigarettes and when I started it was no problem for me.

I remember my first analog. A pall mall blue 100. Nasty little buffers. Anyway, I didn't really smoke it, but instead I just got a mouthful of smoke and.blew it out. I started that because I wanted to appeal to the kids who smoked at school and fit in.

It wasn't until one day I eventually started actually inhaling the cigarettes by the help of my middle school friend. He caught me false smoking and told me how to inhale. He handed my a cig, Kool XL short, and told me to inhale. I coughed and.coughed, but I loved the nicotine rush! From then I was hooked.

Over the years following, I stole shorts out of my moms ashtray and smoked in my room or around my friends. Occasionaly I would find an 18 year old buy me.cigarettes, but that was rare.

Eventually after my parents got tired of me stealing their cigarettes they just have up trying to.get me to quit and bought me 1 pack a week. But that 1 a week wouldn't hold me over. I needed more. I still stole them, but the number of smokes kept increasing.

At 16 I was a PAD smoker. 17, pack and a half. That remained steady.

I kept my smoking a secret from my girlfriend of two years after she "convinced" to quit. That was the one year mark in the relationship. I made up stories of why I always smelled like smoke or how I said my mom made me light her cigarettes for her while were were driving, that why my breath smelled like it. That was all a cover up on my heavy smoking habit.

At 18 I weant on a summer job that required traveling, I remember my first e cig being a cheap gas station blueberry disposable. I liked it, but not as much as smoking. I didn't like it as much.

On a trip to visit my hometown, Shreveport, LA, I stayed with my aunt andbbought an njoy. Rechargeable, expensive, not good one. Still hated it.

Then it wasn't untill a few months ago I switched over. I tried to quit many times but to no avail i started again. Randomly I started reading a blog. Vapegrl. She explained the basics of e cigs. I was quite blown away with all the knowledge.

I took her advice and got the V2 e cig starter kit. From my first drag on coffee flavored prefilled carto, I haven't smoke a cig since. I used that for a few months until a few weeks ago o switched to my ego twist with evods.

I am now 19. I look at my experience as a way to prove to people that it is possible to switch at a young point in life and avoid the consequences of smoking. I knew smoking was bad, bit I loved the habit. Inhaling something that takes your mind off things for 5 minutes is great. But the consequences are bad.

If it wasn't for randomly reading that artical, I would still be a smoker. I am proud to call my self a vaper!

I remember trying cigs at a young age but it was at 16 that I really started. I wish these had been around as an option when I was ready to quit when I hit my 20's. Actually when I became pregnant at 19. Less than 3 years and I was hooked. I smoked through both of my pregnancies. Back then there wasn't the stigma there is today. Heck, I could smoke in my hospital room.

Congratulations on making the switch at a young age. :)

Good to know that a young person is using an e-cig the correct way - as a healthier alternative to smoking. All I get are a bunch of rowdy, obnoxious punks who ask incessantly, "Can you put blank oil in these?"

IT'S AN E-CIGARETTE, NO, YOU CAN'T PUT [censored] INTO IT.

Yes you can, Rocketpunk!! Lol, anyways.. I'm a lot like you (OP), we are soo lucky to be given this option/opportunity/alternative at such a young age! :D
I'm only 23.
... I have a couple older siblings and family that smoked 'X' packs-a-day for years, since their early teens. This is how I kind of got started (like you), pretty much everyone in my family smoked cigarettes.. As I'm sure you know, this makes it soo easy to find a cig whenever you'd like one, just ask you parent, brother or sister in the house!! Living in a home where smoking is the norm, makes it a lot easier to pick up the habit

I was a lot like you, I just recently turned 23, and I started smoking in my early teens because all the kids around me were.. I also didn't inhale at first, hated the taste and throat/mouth feeling, I just did it to 'fit in' when everyone else was smoking. I actually didn't even like the nicotine-buzz at first at all, it made me feel dizzy and not-well..

But eventually I began inhaling. And by my sophmore or junior year of high school, I was bumming multiple cigarettes from friends and kids at school daily.. By senior year, I was bumming them off my dad and having him pick me up a few packs when he went to the Indian Reservation every friday (soo cheap here!).. My dad seemed slightly disappointed but never asked me to quit ever, probably because I always told him to quit since I was a kid, and he didn't want to be a hypocrite. I started buying my own packs and by college I was hooked, always had a pack on me..

..... I first heard of e-cigs a couple years ago when everyone was talking about the e-cig vendor in the mall, actually 'smoking' (vaping) indoors. It seemed pretty cool, but didn't intrigue me too much.. Last summer, my older brother and his wife started the e-cig: I tried it a few times, kind of liked it, said I was going to get my own, but put it off for months. I really didn't plan to quit smoking.
And than, this past Xmas - that same sister in law of mine gave me a gift card to our local Vape Store (actually very popular world-wide for their amazing juice, can't mention their name on here).

I got a Ego 900mah 3.7v, a couple T2's, and a bottle of Toasted Marshmallow juice, and the rest was history!! Like I said, I really didn't plan or want to quit smoking, but when I was gifted my 1st vape-kit, I just liked vaping so much more and it tasted so good that I quickly weened off the cigs.. Within 2 or 3 weeks of getting my 1st e-cig, I ran out of my last 2 packs of cigs and didn't buy any more.

- This was about 7 months ago, I had 1 cigarette @ the bar a month after I switched to vaping and it tasted horrible (like I 1st remembered lol).. Now I have an eVic, Protank, like 100 bottles of juice, and a bunch of devices (clearos, cartos, etc..). Today, it's been just over 6 MONTHS since I've had a cigarette!!
... Now a lot of my family vapes and so does my dad, still trying to get him off of cigs though (+50 year habit!). My older brothers always say how they wish they had e-cigs when they were my age so they could quit younger. We are so lucky to have this amazing alternative at a young age, saving ourselves from DECADES of damage to our bodies and addiction from smoking!! Love vaping so much! ECF has been a hugeee help also
:D

Reading your guys's supportive responses really makes me feel good about this! I wish I could get my mother to see eye to eye. But she said the only way for her to switch is to get a tobacco e liquid. I tried to explain there is no perfect match and once she capes she won't want tobacco, but oh well.

She might like a NET tobacco vape. Check out

It's huge but there are some great suggestions on this thread. It's amazing how tobacco tastes when you take away the burning of the paper out of the equation.

This the kind of thread that we should keep alive for a looooong time! It's awesome!

Haha I like that idea. ;) I never new that switching would've taking time though. I guess since I educated myself a year after trying that disposable I would've switched the. If I got the right thing.
