The more I try different wicking techniques, the more minimalist I'm getting. Somehow I know it shouldn't take more than a few seconds and shouldn't require hyper-fine surgical skills lol. As of now I'm at the point where I just cut the wick tails flush to the edge of the deck or just very slightly proud of the edge of the deck, fluff the tails, then quickly and without a lot of precision "encourage" some of the fluff in the general direction of the juice wells and blocking the airholes from the wells, assemble, vape, enjoy.
A couple days ago I tried an experiment where I just cut the wick tails flush with the edge of the deck and did absolutely nothing else. Wick tails just "hanging" in the air sticking out of the coils. Assembled and tried it. Once the cotton expanded from being juiced, it worked great. I'm still vaping that build today. That convinced me that much of the exacting technique and methodology I've seen used is just not needed and is mostly a waste of time and effort, if not actually counterproductive to wicking very thick juice. Doing absolutely nothing but getting the tail length right (absolutely no more than just enough cotton) is basically enough. Fluffing the tails and moving just a tiny bit of that fluff in the general direction of the wells to block the airholes from the wells is icing on the cake.
I'll give this a go. It's true that Us Tinkerers can overthink things quite badly.
You've been really helpful. Thanks man!
