Hi there great forum!
This site recommends the Ego 510 for new users.
I have never tried a e-cig so i don't know what they are referring to.
is the e-go (510) a brand or just a type of e-cigs?
i see many joye e-go 510's online. are these the once you guys recommend?
i saw a joye 510 online that i would like to buy but it doesn't say e-go
a bit confused here because im new to all this
cheers!

eGo is the Joye brand cigar sized battery that lasts for 6 hours or so. Has a 510 connection (uses same atomizers and cartomizers as a 510) Riva is an off brand eGo style battery.

A 510 is a cigarette sized battery with a 510 thread that lasts 1-2 hours of vaping.

I hope that helps. I think there are photos in the new member area. I'll go look.

Here you go: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...pdated-pictures-most-common-e-cig-models.html

The 510s and Egos are both pictured. You can get them in loads of colors.

Pictures here - 3 best starters: Joye 510, Joye Ego, KR808D-1 and the smaller it is, the shorter the battery life. But many like to start with a slim model then get a big one later. Some do that and find the small one if not enough charge or not enough hit, some are fine with the slim ones. Joye is the original manufacturer of 510 the slim model and Ego which is a 510-threaded big model. Non-Joye ones are clones and some are good and some are not. And for slim 510 I only recommend Joye brand and I recommend manual batteries for all slim ecigs (one slim thing called 510 is not even a 510 and one is electrically incompatible). One good Ego clone is the Riva 510 at liberty-Flights.com - their Riva 510 kits are the new version from the one manufacturer that makes 3.7v ones

Notes -

100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping

Joye 510 180mah
Joye 510 mega xl 280mah

KR808D-1 180/220mah shorty aka 65mm battery or 280/320 mah for standard aka 78mm battery
(SmokelessImage & Bloogplanet style claims the longer life but have a harder to press button on manuals)

Ego and Riva 510 - 650mah and up and can optionally use the hotter low resistance atomizers and cartomizers

The 510, Ego, Riva 510 are 3-piece ecigs but most use them as a 2-piece with blank cartomizers and as a 3-piece for testing juices and vaping occasional juices

The KR808D-1 is a 2-piece so there are a lot of prefilled and blank cartomizers for it. To test juices on a manual battery you can use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip (dripping is not recommended on auto batteries)

...the eGo is a std type of which there are many clones...one of the good clones is the Riva510 available here Liberty Flights ...first click the 20%discount button on the top left of page then scroll down to "starter kits"...there you will find several different types of starter kits...the Riva 510 Lie Bundle is one of the best deals around...30bux for two batts, atomizers(attys) a cone and 10 empty carts...Liberty FLights has good mid range juice as well...the carts are a PITA and the attys are best for just dripping...so, you need some cartomizers(cartridge+atty in one) to go with them...for those, goto Crystal Clear Vaping and pick up a bundle(15) of the LR Boge2.0s and your hardware needs will be covered...there are lots of options and you will hear plenty of suggestions but the ones I gave you will get you vaping with a good unit with one of the smallest learning curves for the least amount of bux..................

Hey davidmavid,

Some things to consider:
how much did you smoke
is the form factor of your pv important (do you want your pv to resemble an actual cigarette
where will you be vaping
how long will you have to vape to get the right amount of nicotine (assume you will be using nicotine juice) for you
how much will you be vaping

All will be your decision on what is right for you. Can say that this forum answered all of my questions when I started vaping.

Good luck to you
