Hi Guys,
thinking about buying an e-cig to try and quit smoking. I've been reading allot of information on the forums and have noticed that the majority are heavy smokers who turn to e-cigs. I only smoke around 5 on a normal day, but probably double that if im drinking alcohol. Do you think an e-cig can help me to give up? Im pretty sure my addiction is not that strong, its just that I have very set triggers such as after a meal, first thing in the morning etc. and I feel like I need those set cigarettes as I enjoy the actual actions of smoking a cig. My requirements are as follows:

- Low strength or even no nicotine
- I would prefer to have one with cartomizers as im not keen on messing with liquids etc.
- I like the look of the traditional cigarette look with filter etc. and I understand that the smaller the cig the worse the batt life but I don't think this will bother me too much as im such a light smoker
- reputable UK supplier
- Im pretty sure I want an automatic battery
- I usually smoke Marlboro Gold/Light and understand I cant replicate this completely but any recommendations would be great. I am willing to experiment with different flavours but I feel like I would like to atleast try the cig flavoured ones first
- Price range, preferably the lower end around £30

Any help greatly appreciated :)

You would have to ask some across the pond vapers really, I know in the states there are several kr808 vendors with preilled kr808 cartomizers that would fit your needs. Vapor4life comes to mind.

I would recommend a 510 with boge cartomizers but those do require you to fill them up as there is no prefilled supplier of those cartomizers at the moment that I know of. I know you can pick up a joye 510 or riva plus a pack of cartomizer for less than £40
at Liberty flights UK

someone more familiar with the EU market may know of a prefilled vendor around there...you could buy from the states but shipping will eat into your low price range requirement.

If you are in the UK it may be better to get 5 posts or replies in New members and wait an hour to get full privileges and then ask in the UK section of ECF. I do not know what is available easily in or from the UK. But the UK forum would know.

And I recommend manual batteries and an ecig that will let you use atomizer+cart, cartomizers, atomizer+drip tip (not recommend for auto batteries). Auto batteries are dependent on a drag sensor through an open hole in the threaded end of the battery, right where the dripping method or a refilled cartomizer might leak. Auto batteries can also turn on accidentally from wind or vibration.

I recommend manual Joye 510 (2-3 hour battery life for a light vaper), or Joye 510 w/ mega xl manual batteries (60% more charge, makes it 138mm long w/ atty+cart, 128mm long with standard Boge carto). Or KR808D-1 w/ standard size batteries (120mm long w/ carto).

One thing you may want to consider is that if you're trying to quit smoking analogs (traditional cigarettes), then you may want to raise rather than lower your nicotine intake at first. Not greatly. If you're doing less than 1/2 pack of Marlboro golds, then 12 mg might do well for you. If you're doing close to a pack of them a day, then I recommend 18 mg.

The reason for that is you want to NOT feel like you're missing out on anything or withdrawal when you're using your e-cigarette. That can lead to temptation to light up an analog to get what you are missing (the nicotine) and you just might consider the e-cig a failure. It seems to work out better to overdo it a little so you see it as being a VERY effective replacement to get your mind good and primed to favor it over traditional cigarettes. Once a couple of weeks have passed on the 12mg or 18mg, then consider stepping down your nicotine intake, then gradually work yourself down to none. Filling cartos yourself probably would give you the most granular control over how much nicotine you take in, but you can do it just fine with prefilled cartos.

Oh, and please remember to drink more water--I didn't at first and I coughed horribly after the first week. Vaping tends to draw out a bit of moisture from your lungs (both PG and VG, the carrier fluids in e-juice, are humectants) so the extra water intake will greatly reduce coughing.

Good luck, and have fun!

You won't be satisfied, if you meet your requirements. I explain why a few posts down here. Also you may not want to mess with liquids but, you'll save a lot of money and have a lot more options if you do.

Its entirely possible the OP will be satisfied with the requirements listed, there really is no way to know unless they try. It is not helpful to just come out and say "It won't work"...though it may be helpful to say why it didn't work for you. There are tons of prefilled kr808 users out there who have been using such items for a long time, longer than the Riva has even been out. I personally don't use prefilled because I like to save money and consider it worth the hassle of filling it myself to get the exact flavors I want and get it while paying less.

You may like the Riva but there are plenty of box mod users who think its junk, then there are plenty of 5v regulated tube mod users who think box mods are junk and then there are plenty of bottom feeder users who think all of the above are junk..and I am sure some variable voltage person will chime in about THAT being the only thing that works...but for all of that there are also people who are using all of the products and enjoying them.

Thanks guys, some really good information here.

Jbblack, that is an interesting point you make, if I know there is no nicotine in the e-cig then it may not satisfy my craving psychologically.

MickeyRat I have read the post you recommended, I can see that some of those opinions are popular in the community but personally I would like to at least try to meet my requirements before then experimenting if I am dissatisfied.

Hello and welcome to ECF!!! although it doesn't resemble a cigarette I highly recommend the joye eGO . They produce awesome vapor give you many options and last a long time between charges. cignot.com has an awesome deal on them right now. I like to use mine with boge 2.0 cartomizers from vaporkings.com and my favorite e-juice hands down is Sweet Vapes E-Liquid I absolutely love their e-juice. What ever you decide to try I wish you the best of luck with vaping :) :) :)

Goldenkobold pointed you to Liberty-Flights which is a great recommendation. Since you don't smoke much, you might be incredibly happy with a regular or even an XL 510 battery. You can use either cartridges or cartomizers with them and the hardware is easy to find because they're incredibly popular. Don't discount "messing with juice." Filling a cart or a carto is easier than you think and you'll save money by refilling yourself.

Good luck on your vaping journey and welcome to ECF!
