Good prices on batts but OMG I thought we were crazy with the $$$$ we spend on mods. WTF some of those flashlights are $400 bucks. I am not sure what you do with a flashlight light that costs that much. Unless it came with a laser that could burn through 1/4" steel I am not seeing the need for a flashlight of that caliber!

I think the most DH has spent on a flashlight was around $150 (he loves his flashlights). We keep it on the kitchen counter. I made the mistake of calling it the "little" kitchen flashlight one time.:glare: I'll never hear the end of that.

It is "little" for how powerful it is. (It takes one 18650 AW IMR battery that will last a really long time.)

{edit} DH uses that one to do his nightly (when he's home) copperhead hunt around the house, outside.

Well now, highend flaslights are like highend mods, you get what you pay for. If, say you were a Law Enforcement Officer and your life depended on the light working would you want a cheap POS you bought at Wallyworld or one thats got a proven track record for being extremely dependable? I have 3, of what you would call high dollar led lights. One is next to my my .40cal pistol on my night stand, one in the door pocket in my truck, and one in my hunting items. All 3 of which I have no question work if I need them to...:) (I sure a heck didn't get rapped on the prices of mine like these "battery and flashlight" specialty stores try to do though...)

The last time we took our gun carry class to renew, the two instructors, Law Enforcement Officers, brothers in fact, told us about Surefire flashlights that you can use as first line protection to blind someone who gets aggressive, say, at your car window. We all carry one in the driver's side pocket and I have one in my purse. It gives you enough time to drive off and not have to result to deadly force, if at all possible. (First thing a person will do, usually, is to put their hands up in front of their face; buys you a second or more.)

Unloading my G-30 mag buys a couple seconds, as well... LOL

But seriously, I spent a bit on some high-powered flashlights, a while back. I hunt & camp a lot (not waiting on the apocalypse or anything) and a good flashlight really makes a difference. This technology has evolved so quickly, in the last few years, that my old mini-maglights are now useless.

So, a couple years back, I bought two or so spendy Blackwater tactical flashlights. I have loved them, and they come in handy pig-huntinig (at night) as well as keeping predators out of my chicken coop. I was delighted with my 2yr old flashlights (cost me ~$100ea), until about a week ago. I went to Costco, where I picked up a kit with 3 flashlights for ~$20 for all 3. Long story short, my new flashlights blow the old ones away, and at less than 1/10th of what I paid for the old ones. Man, this technology stuff moves quickly... LOL

Anyhow, I wouldn't advise getting the priciest flashlight, but it's worth checking out an LED flashlight made within the past 2-3yrs.

:):) I have "some" money tied up in flashlights :):)

I have a hard time passing up well made essentials. Between the two cars and the house we have 5 or 6 lights that are over 100 bucks. Nothing too hardcore though. They would be good for smashing someones teeth in after you blind them though.

I agree Lighthound.com has a charger that fits every single battery I own! It was only $12. I use spacers for the 14500, but I can charge those, the cr123s, 18650, 17670. Fast shipping & incredible customer service. I swear a PERSON answers the phone whenever I call & they leave me with no question unanswered.

Ok now that you guys have brought up the blinding aspect I may need to get one of those high powered lights. Not that I will shell out $400 but one that can blind and knock some teeth out does sound appealing. As an added bonus it can be carried in any car and is not considered a weapon. Plus with all the Mods here at the house I am cetain I have the batts!!!!
