Sounds interesting but I'm not sure I totally understand (folding the mesh), you got a pic or two?

I don't my phone camera isn't any good. Basically just make a coil like you would normally. Then instead of running cotton inside the coil like normal, use mesh first. Cut a small piece that you can roll into a tube, like a straw. Only need it to be one wrap, not layered. Then put cotton in center of mesh, the mesh touches the coil, not the cotton. Mesh only has to stick out past the coil a couple of mm.

Look at how people sleeve ss rope with eco-wool. I do the opposite, sleeve the cotton with mesh.
EDIT: Found a pic, similar to this, coil only goes around mesh. Pic they're using silica I think, I just use what ever cotton I have.

That's what I bought - the 1200' box. I figure there'll be so much left when I die it can be willed forward 2 or 3 generations [emoji38]
LOL, create a trust!

The issue with property that doesn't vest for a couple of generations is that it runs into an old Common Law rule:

"No interest is good unless it must vest, if at all, not later than twenty-one years after some life in being at the creation of the interest."

Does mesh affect the resistance of your coil?
Once you oxidize the mesh, it doesn't short and just becomes a wicking material just like any other wick....you don't even need cotton for it to wick in a tank that is set up for mesh wicks

]I had to share this experience with you all...I found recently that Mr Fluff cotton/rayon works better than organic and is super absorbant. I get about 40puffs after dripping my RDA peerless with one full pippet. Amazing flavour and nic hit, please try it,very cheap as well.
Have you ever tried straight rayon?

I bought a big bag of the organic cotton pads for $12. While not as cheap as the 1200 ft pf rayon it will still last me decades. Is it "the best"? I don't know and don't really care. It works, keeps me from smoking and was cheap enough to be a negligible cost. I don't see me trying anything else until this is gone.

Unless of course some miracle wick is invented that is 100% tasteless, greatly improves vapor flavor, doesn't burn, doesn't get gunked up, never needs replacing and can be dry burned. In that case I might consider switching.

Same here. I've got a big bag of Japanese organic cotton, and around 40 feet of rayon.

I think even with shipping, I spent under $20, and I have enough wicking material to last until retirement.

I like rayon, but between rayon and cotton, I can't see how a blend would be better. In my experience, rayon wicks better and doesn't really burn like cotton can.

However, cotton is easier to work with and easier to get "right."

But it comes down to personal preference. It would seem that a rayon cotton blend wouldn't have the best parts of each material. Rather, it would have the worst parts.

It would be easier to burn than pure rayon, and would be harder to work with than pure cotton.

never liked it, but sounds like silica

Yes if I only specified those 2 points silica would work. I don't like silica either for several reasons. Including, but not limited to, the possibility of getting silica fibers in your lungs.

Well if 2 can be possible, maybe one day all can be
