iota - a carto is short for 'cartomizer', that is, a 'cartridge atomizer'. Ever see those mods with just a thin tube sticking out as a topper? Like some of the ones in Uncle's travel kit pics. That's a carto. There are also tanks which use a cartomizer inside the tank. They're said to be virtually leak-proof, and many of the popular carto-tank manufacturers make some really lovely looking customized items. Hard to resist, but not an easy fill-and-go experience at all. You buy the cartomizers separately, then you have to cut them along the base to allow the juice to flow into it from the tank. Or you can buy them pre-cut. Then you have to pre-prime the carto by dripping the juice into the end a little at a time until it's full, then mount it in the tank, then fill the tank. Many vapers swear by them either in the tanks or out.
After writing my post about them above, I dragged out my Boges and decided to give them another day in court. It wasn't quite as bad as I remembered, filling it up a little at a time - though the 50/50 juice I started using was way too thick and I had to switch mid-stream to a much higher pg ratio. A nice vape, but a somewhat limited and seemingly antiquated system imo.

05 /24 Entry . . .

I am inspired to do my next diy craft project after seeing uncle's zune case - which is just great! I have so many little bags/cases/purses etc. and I can sew a little bit, so I'm going to try and find some elastic webbing and create my perfect vape travel case.

I think my brother has some cases from some ear buds or headphones that may be better (stonger material and maybe better sizes), so I'm going to take a look at what I can "borrow" from him! :)

Uncle - What a nice, simple, travel set-up you have there. I especially love the price tag! :thumb:

 Yep - And the hard sided case even less expensive now on Amazon . . . However, the equipment inside is not . . . Oh BTW: For those who only NEED to carry around less equipment - a case for Diabetic supplies that you can get almost anywhere (I got one from a 2nd hand store for $1.00) works well too . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

5/24 4 years vaping for me on June 1st!!

CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! :rickroll:

I was trying to keep up with all the sales and checking out the various Memorial Day vaping deals around, but it has gotten crazy! The sheer amount of deals makes my brain want to shut down! lol It is great for the bargain hunters, but you have to be able to spend a good amount of time wading through all of it.

I make a list of things I needed/wanted before shopping, then hunted around for the deals :)

It's amazing to me how quickly vapers 'evolve.' In just over two months I've gone from an eGo clone with CE4s to a Vision Spinner II with Kanger EVOD 2's to a Vamo V5 with Aerotanks, and HH.357's for flavor reviews. My reviews have evolved as well, they've gone from "this is delicious" to a real exploration of the various flavor notes the liquid brings, comments on packaging and service, and beginning to consider what time of year/day a particular flavor would be best, and moving into pairings. I don't think I'm unusually fast in this, either.

All the vaping sales creeped up one by one and I'd put an order in here and there. Honestly, I hope I don't see any more!!!! Definitely went overboard, and regret some of my snap purchases, but it is hard to turn down some of these deals. On the other hand, I got some great deals that I still can't believe the price on. At the least I get to look forward to vapemail! :D

I haven't bought anything yet but need some more coil heads and silica wick. Don't trust putting cotton in the ones I send off with hubby. He is on his first job since Oct of last yr and things have been pretty tight here plus I splurged and got myself a Vision Spinner 2 for my birthday this month but would like to have a second one, just don't think it will happen now. I also figure there will be bigger and better sales for the 4th and by then I can have a little set aside for goodies.

Fenway LOL I guess most progress through gear at least until we find something we like. I am happy with my Spinner 2... love it in fact and my first VV but I look at your sig line and I don't think by your goodie list that you have saved that much money... just diverted it elsewhere LOL

*cracking up* yeah.....not so much. I have actually spent far more on vaping than I would have if I were still on analogs. HOWEVER, it's worth it, and I also firmly believe I will 'level off' on the spending curve once I find a few (10 to 15) liquids I want to maintain a stock of. At that point, the inexorable climb of savings from quitting analogs will overtake my vape spending, and it'll be financially beneficial as well as saving my life.

Thanks for the great description, Noble! I still have the same general line of thinking, though, and will probably stick with my mini protanks. If I am going to expand my vaping options, I'm leaning towards the kayfun. I guess with the Memorial Day sales, I should try to make that happen! But I'll probably wait until I've gotten some more use out of the mini pt's. I'm cheap like that!!

I haven't even been looking at the sales since I'm flat busted broke and biting my nails about it.
So I vape with what I've got and hang out on ECF and enter contests for gear I need. :)

iota: You're very welcome :)
I like the protank2 an awful lot, but my mini pt2 has such an airy draw I never use it. I am also eyeing the KFL+, like a hawk! Those things look perfect for me! Someday...
