Also this is an example of why notes are so important. To be able to refer back to previous testers then I know what they tasted like on various days of steeping.

I couldn't agree more Fog. I learned early on (the hard way!Some of my best mixes are forever lost in the ether because I didn't write it down) to write everything down. Not just the recipe; but what I did; how I did it; what the results tasted like right after mixing, 24hours later, 48hrs., 72hrs., 1 week, 2 week, etc.; what I liked; and what I think might need tweaking.

Well I have mixed some more with the new biscuit with better results but something was still not right.
Reviewing my notes last week realized I usually mix these recipes at 30/70vg but was mixing at 20/80vg. Back to 30/70vg and everything is back to where it should be.
Operator error, go figure.

Glad you figured it out. I truly think that is a mistake a lot of mixers (especially new ones) make. You try somebody's recipe at 60/40 or 70/30 and its great, then you make it at 80/20 and expect it to taste the same. It rarely ever does. In different blends you can muddle the top notes or just cloud the flavors ( if that makes sense).

Yes I agree and it is something I've noticed, the flavour difference is quite noticeable especially when going to 20/80vg or changing pg/vg ratios from original recipes and often taste muddled as a result.

About a year ago I did an experiment with a strawberry milkshake juice. I made it at 50/50,70/30 and max vg( roughly 82 vg). After a few days steep I tried it. Not a massive difference from 50/50 to 70/30. Slightly less brightness. Max VG was dull. A week or so later I tried them again. Both the 50/50 and 70/30 were great. Completely smoothed out. Max VG was still kind-of flat and dull. I forgot about it for quite a while. Was probably a month or so. This time the Max VG was almost as good. Top note wasnt as sharp but still good. I dont think max VG will ever be as crisp and sharp but IMHO with a long enough steep it can work.

I got the mixers because the shaking was killing my elbows.

I've started putting an elastic band around 4/5 10ml bottles, makes it easier to hang on to multiple bottles while shaking.
