I am new to DIY. I have made about 15 small bottles so far and they all leave bitter taste in my mouth. You may also say the taste somewhat pine tree ish. I am using wizard labs stuff so basically lorann and tfa flavors.

Today for example i made a bottle 10% Double ry4 1%EM and a drop of AP. Its mixed 70/30 and it is sooo bitter. I got the recipe on here somewhere so i tried it. I know some flavors need a few days, but i have tatsed fresh juice from a b&m and they never tasted like this.

Am i doing something wrong?

Is it the alcohol in the flavors?

First make sure it's not your PG or VG, everything shouldn't be bitter. Drip a little of each, or make up a small batch with no flavoring in your usual strength to try and pin point what's going on.
Have you used EM in everything? You might have a sensitivity to it or the AP. Personally, I think DRY4 is good all by itself.

How is the essential depot vg ang pg? I saw you can get it on Amazon. It says food grade though. Is that safe to vape?

Mine is fine. I bought a gallon of each and they are labeled USP. As far as I know USP is what you are looking for!

So i dripped straight pg on my iglow and its nasty bitter on my tongue. Dumped some walmart vg on there and it almost dissapeared. All the juices i made were 70/30 for flavor..

I have always prefered vg juices anways.

On average how much do you increase flavor % on a vg heavy mix over a pg heavy mix? Im sure some of you have made the same flavors on different base ratios...

I seem to remember Hoosier saying (I'm pretty sure it was him) that you don't really need more flavor. With VG being thicker, it just takes longer for the flavor to come out or be incorporated in the mix (VG is actually sweeter to my taste). I've gone from 70/30 to 40/60 (PG/VG) and haven't really adjusted my flavoring. I would probably try my normal percentage and if it tastes bland, bump it up a couple of percent. YMMV

Cheers,
Steve

I wouldn't be happy with a bitter taste either! If its the PG try to use as little as possible and if you do make 100% VG there are threads on here that explain how to thin it out with a little distilled water if its too thick. I just started using Essential Depot last month and have been happy with the PG and VG ordered through Amazon.

You know, if you drop the pg from your mixes that's just one less thing you have to keep on hand. I haven't added pg to any of my juices since I have been doing the DIY thing. You might, and I mean might, have to up your flavor percentages like 1%...might. I bet that if you are a long term vapor that has gotten their taste buds back you won't notice the difference.

Im thinking about going all vg except for flavors and maybe add a bit off water to thin it out for my kayfuns..

This is off topic but its been bugging me, as a new diy'er i have spent alot of time reading the forums. I do t really know how to mix mix multiple flavors so naturally I look for recipes that might sound good. I have found mainly 2 types.

One recipe will be given in percentages. These are easy to folllow. Just plug them into a calculator and go.

The second will be given like this. 8 drops of this flavor and then 4 drops of that flavor. How is this a proper unit of measurment? How many drops per mil? What are they dripping from? Whats the total ml?

Am I missing something to these recipes?
