I recently opened a discussion about slightly brown cotton after few millimiters of vaping.
I found somewhere an used coil of my Ovale Elips C use silica instead of cotton.
For sure i used this coil for at least 30 ml minimum but the condition was way worst.
I can't understand what material are this black parts and dirty some come off and some stay even if i clean under water.

The strange thing i use plain liquid with no flavour only 80% glycerin 20% water and 9mg/ml nicotine no other ingredients are in my eliquid wich is completly clear...

Hi Eddy. I don’t see anything unusual in the pictures you posted if that is your question. Wicks and coils get dirty with use, some faster than others. Around 30 ml seems to be a common place where people clean or replace coils. Some get there in three days, others three weeks or more. I’ve tried cleaning coils with wick in but found it easier to just pull the wick, give coil a good cleaning and inspection, then replace wick with fresh. If the coil breaks or looks questionable it gets replaced too.

As for the health aspects, if vaping is 95% better than smoking that is plenty good enough for me. In cigarette terms that would equal a formerly pack a day smoker cutting down to one cigarette daily from a pack of twenty. If your goal is to eventually inhale nothing but fresh air vaping seems like a good way to get there too. In ten months as MTL vaper I’ve gone from 18-24 mg nic juice to 9-12 mg. Perhaps next year may cut that in half again and eventually give up vaping entirely. Regardless, the lion share of progress has already been made. My suggestion is don’t sweat the small stuff.
