After shipping and any customs taxes, wow much would it cost you per meter to buy it from a USA store/ebay seller?
Approx 80£ for 152m pack after shipping and customs. 71£ on amazon. Nuts. Found a few threads on UK forum with folks coming up with similar conclusions. In this case, I'd rather buy premium wicks designed specifically for vaping.

@PeterKay - Another reason there are so few vendors who still have silica wicking...is because most long ago clearanced out what stock they had. Since about 2016, the vendors I happened upon who still had it were selling it for $.10-$.25 per 10 feet, depending on which diameter it was. One vendor I used to pretty regularly buy from...even included several free baggies of it in my package, every time I placed an order for other things. I never used any of it though. Even when she closed her website, she told me she still had a whole bunch of it left. There are still a few very rare vendors though, who have small amounts on their websites.
Yeah I've not seen any of this stuff before, but that guy I found on ebay has loads. And not very expensive, so I thought I could come and ask here whether it would be worth stocking on this stuff

no matter what the resellers say--it's just unbleached, but not organic and not pesticide-free, if it matters to you.
Usually if I have an option in such case: go organic or not, I look at the price, if difference is small then why not choose something potentially safer? For me a no brainer.

That's another reason why silica wick looked interesting, having something temperature stable and durable that's not going to break down if you heat it too much by accident would definitely be a pro. But after considering the disadvantages you guys mentioned I don't think it's worth investing in and stocking a lot of it. Maybe a small sample to give it a shot and see how it performs.

Ive used this stuff:
Full Pack 180 Pad Muji Japanese Organic Cotton, , Discount for Two, Vape, RBA | eBay
And Pro Cotton by Coil Master.
The latter seemed to give less of the cotton taste. I haven't tried the ones you mentioned, maybe it's the right time to experiment

It's good to experiment. :) Any of those mentioned by @AngeNZ and myself are very good.

Highway robbery...
Cool and thanks, saw their rayon (by meter) earlier but its more expensive than on ebay. However, the silica is cheaper. And they've got that braided stuff. They seem to be closed but only for 3 more days, that's alright

If you're going to try their silica rope, add 1 meter of the rayon to your order if you just want to try it.

Cellucotton wick material - Rayon - 1m

If you like it a lot, continue your search. Maybe other vapers will be willing to split the cost of one box with you? People do it here even though it's dirt cheap. A box of Sally's cellucotton will last you a couple of lifetimes.

And check that link that Rossum posted for rayon (Viskose) balls. If they ship to England, it's very much worth trying.

As a last resort, visit our Rayon thread--maybe there are some Europeans posting there who will be willing to sell you a small amount for cost + shipping. Worth trying. I haven't been there for a while so I'm not sure.

@PeterKay what tank, wattage, juice, and coil are you using? I personally haven't used silica in over 6 years, but I could with my set up. I basically am using the same set up now than when I started over 8 years ago, an rta with 28 to 26g kanthal at 20ish watts and 70vg juice, but if your a 30 or higher watt guy that uses 100vg and perhaps dtl inhaling , silica is not going to work.....you really need to be vaping over 1 ohm with 28g to 26g spaced coils at 20 or lower watts mtl and no more than 70vg juice . Yes, if your good you may get away with slightly higher numbers, but not by much......you also would wrap the wire around the wick (which isnt hard) then attach that to the posts, which is slightly more tricky than just mounting a more traditional coil with no wicking material . Also silica is fairly thin, I believe theres 1 and 2mm ropes and alot of today's rtas require more fluff in certain areas of the deck to prevent gurgling, so you kind of need older or older style rtas like ones that have a kayfun type deck or similiar....one cool thing about silica is when the wick hunks, you can just dry burn it clean and your good to go.......once the micro coil came out the silica kind of stopped and cotton ruled.....the ceramic x wicks you inquired about are definitely better than silica and a bit thicker and can keep up with higher numbers than I mentioned and have a better chance of being threaded thru a coil, but I didnt have the best of luck doing it that way and still wrapped my coil around the ceramic rope (soft ceramic) you can also dry burn it like silica . When these came out there were some companies not treating the ropes properly (they must be heat treated to really high temps for them to be safe) , but I'm sure now that isnt the case.....I only use rayon now and luv it and never would think of using ropes again...good luck

I do both mtl and dtl and use juices from 50/50 to 75VG. My MTL setups should be fine: Berserker mini mtl RTA, and RDA in squonk mode, coils I use are between 0.7ohm and 1.0 ohm, SS316l. All juices I currently make are cut with 5%Distilled H2O so are a bit thinner than normal juices.

I never tried the 3mm, so that might be worth trying....flavor was ok, not as good as rayon and I never had issues with silica not wicking and never felt the silica was falling apart and being inhaled. Looking back , the only real negative was the method of wrapping the wire around the wick and then securing coil to posts, but that was all there was, so you just did it, but compare that to making a nice solid coil first and securing, setting proper height, slight dry burn, then threading wick was a game changer for most....it is pretty neat to just dry burn coil and wick when its gunked and your back in action.
