black stuff in my tank

hey all I was wondering if anyone knew what this stuff might be, this stuff that keeps appearing in my tank is these black fibers and they're a pain in the ... to get out and I think it might be coming off of the coil it self. Anyone seen these before? My guess is its burnt cotton peeling off the coil and floating around.

I'd think you would have noticed if you were burning your wicking to that degree. It looks like it could be a piece of rubber Oring to me. Either that or a pollywog.

You need to do a wash and blow out checking all seals for rips or tears. If you do not have compressed air use a can of air for the PC. I see a bit of liquid on the side of your mod which leads me to believe you have a leak.

Strange.
There is no black o-rings in a Kanger Top tank. (unless you use the black silicon o-ring version.)
My guess is something coming off the coil.
Or black paint?

That would be something I would Investigate ASAP.

Especially if this is a Clone TopTank.

Did you just try to pull it out and look at it? That might be more revealing.

Can you take that out and put it on a piece of white paper and take another pic?

Almost looks like coil gunk, or possibly something rubber/silicone. Hard to tell when inside the tank.

I am starting to lean towards possible paint peeling looking at it a little closer. Drain and clean and inspect for paint coming off I would suggest again.

I agree with Steve and puffon, looks like paint to me too. I use the Toptanks and have burnt the coils before, but nothing like that ever happened.

Not sure itvus burned cotton but wicks are breaking down.

that's what drove me to all ss gear mods included i hated finding paint chips in places that I don't want it.

Yeah, the shape is what got me thinking it's paint too.

Personally I have never had a problem with painted tanks but I also use mostly DIY and none of the known tank killers will ever be vaped by me! Also only glass tanks for me.

I cleaned it up in photoshop and it looks more like a charred dark brown than black.
