Mine dropped to perfectly normal right after switching to vaping and has now stabilized right around 114/78. It's only been this low with mild hypertension meds since having the last kid. Since I've still got the kid I'm surprised it's not up permanently ;) but vaping has it right here. I vape between 11 and 24 typically but jump to 36 from time to time for a few vapes. Doesn't seem to matter, BP stays constant. I'm thinking it's an individual thing as I get enough nic to hurt some people but I feel great. My doc gives it a

I did overstate. I wish I could still edit as I would say 2 years at most.

Average lifespan of a red blood cell is about 120 days .The range quoted by blood banks for restoration of one pint of donated blood in a donor varies a bit but minimum in the US is 56 days and you have about 8-12 pints in your body. Many hematological characteristics start turning around within two weeks of smoking cessation .I overstated on the time it takes for hemoglobin to restore, but some studies say it takes up to five years for other hematological characteristics to return to normal .

links removed so i could post

Lol the non editing is a bummer. I forgot to give my findings for MREXE even though i'm not anolog free yet.

MREXE, my blood pressure has been stable so far when i check.

Back to the blood... I have PV so YMMV but getting CBC's, H/H's and phlebotomies regulary(sometimes every week for months) i can say the blood bank is full of it in my case atleast. I can't remember the name of it(er something) but i'm thinking giving blood much like high altitude(low o2/high co2) can increase rbc production. Going along with what you mentioned...from my understanding this would make it harder on the heart since it's pumping thicker fluid.

rave , do you get short on breath or cough easily when you get the lung crackle? Only times mine have crackled is when i have busted one.

My experience....I am now on BP meds since I reduced analog intake. I was down to 2-3 analogs after a 40 year 2+Pack/Day addiction. I have increased the analog intake because of the "something missing" thing. I am working on that issue. About a month after I started vaping, whenever I reduced analog intake to 2-3analogs per day, I would have "spells". Pounding heart, dizziness, nausea, BM and shakiness. An analog would make it all go away. I went to doc..he gave a thumbs up to vaping, lungs clear (1st time in 10 years), said spell was most likely due to reduced tobacco use. Had another spell, went to ER was sent for heart workup. Heart study (nuclear stress test, echo, home monitor for a month)...all good..ticker working like it should but BP up. He put me on low dose BP meds and heart in ears has significantly reduced, BUT still less intense "spells". I don't know the final answer, but I have never had BP issues prior to this.

Hi, all

I am new to this vaping and I am 35 years old. I smoked 17 years before I switched to a vaper. It's been a month since last time I smoked an analog.

My bp was about 130-90, but last time I checked it went down to 100-60. It almost seems too low. I would smoke about a half pack a day and I vape maybe a couple times a day with 6mg of nicotine, so I think the reason for my bp going down is beacuase I am not smoking analog. Just a thought.

Good for you. Have you been to your doc since you quit? I bet he/she will be pleased.
Mine used to run 90/60 smoking 2 packs a day. Now that I have quit, it is up... go figure, but I have gained weight so I think that is why.

How Does Smoking Increase Heart Disease Risk?

The nicotine present in tobacco products causes:
  • Decreased oxygen to the heart.
  • Increased blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Increase in blood clotting.
  • Damage to cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels.
I went to the doctor after vaping for 6 months and my B/P was up also. I must be getting more nicotine than when I smoked.

Obviously true, but does the phrase, "...nicotine present in tobacco products..." apply to vaping?

I have only been vaping for a month or so, gradually getting off analogs completely for the last three days. My BP has also gone up in the last three days to the 150/etc levels. Taken randomly several times during the day.

Perhaps I am vaping waaaaay too much, but it's hard for me to measure. On the plus side, I feel great off the logs.

My blood pressure was 125 / 70 about 2 1/2 years ago. Last year I had a scare when I found that it was like 145 / 100. I think that was a bad reading in the BP chair at Wal-mart though. When I had it checked they told me it was like 125 / 90.

Now I've been vaping for over 6 weeks. I got curious about any effects it may be having on my BP. I just checked it 30 minutes ago and it was at 138 / 90.

I just finished vaping the equivalent of a cigarette. (18mg mixture from Trueman.) I am hooking up the cuff right now to see if there's any signifigant change. One moment please....

....

It reads 138 / 95....

I've been a bit confused about smoking and BP. Is it Nicotine or another element of smoking that drive up BP? If it's nicotine, then we're all still gonna have to keep an eye on this....

Really good question, and I sure wish I had the answer! BTW: I would be happy with 138! My BP has continued to rise over the past year, so it's not just vaping. I quit analogs about two months ago, and it seems to have zero affect on my BP. It just keeps climging, with some readings in the 152-160 range.

Yes, I have been to the doc several times, and he has me on BP pills, the max dosage, almost no salt in my diet, cooking now mostly at home with fresh veggies, lots of fruit, no red meat, etc.

The only thing I have failed to do accomplish is the added exercises he wants, but at 70, I get really serious leg cramps that don't go away quickly.

But I have vowed to at least walk more.

On the personal side, which most definitely affects my BP is the sudden loss of my wife last year to brain cancer and retiring the same day. So, I went from a happy home and a highly active job to being rather depressed and inactive.

This obviously has a huge affect on my BP, so I cannot blame vaping, but just the same, think I will go find some really low mg juice.

You could easily be right -- I'm not a doctor and I was going on what seemed like a reputable source, so my apologies for any misleading information. (Compared to the other stuff I usually comment on here, this isn't an area I've read much about.)

I've been a bit confused about smoking and BP. Is it Nicotine or another element of smoking that drive up BP?
Both. Nicotine is a stimulant and a vasoconstrictor, so it does drive up BP as an immediate reaction. There are other components of cigarette smoke that damage the arteries over time and create the conditions for higher BP and cardiovascular disease, too.
That's how I understand it, at least.

So... you'd think that if we were replacing smoking with a roughly equal amount of nicotine as we were used to, there shouldn't be increases in BP when switching from smoking to vaping...*

At least, that's if other stuff like weight and stress/anxiety haven't changed.

So I'm kinda puzzled.

(*There's some good evidence that smokers self-administer nicotine to a pretty precise level when switching from full-flavored to lights, etc. Unless, perhaps, you're increasing nicotine intake over previous levels in an attempt to chase the satisfaction of cigarettes -- thanks to the lack of tobacco's other psychoactive alkaloids.)

Which is precisely the subject of another one of my threads. I can count two drinks or 20 cigarettes, etc. I always knew how much I was smoking.

But with vaping--I have NO idea! I am certain that I vap too much, which is another reason I am switching to 6mg juice.

Some here have said, "count the drops" ???

So, is there 18mg of nic in one drop of 18 mg juice? I highly doubt that, or else I am very close to nic poisoning.

Latest studies are showing that nicotine raises BP for some, for others it has no effect, and the rest it actually lowers BP. General consensus is that the other compounds in tobacco smoke are causing more problems with BP than the nicotine is. The medical community is going pro E-cig to get off tobacco for the reasons these new studies are showing. I'm sure some of you have read these reports. After I started vaping I started getting syncope, (when blood pressure drops and you get dizzy headed) And my MD cut my BP medication in half.

I go to respiratory therapy which checks my blood pressure, so it is taken 3 times a week. My BP has always been good with an average of 110/70. I smoked for 40 years and have been only vaping for two weeks. There has been no change at all in my BP. I would also agree with others - make sure you drink plenty of water.

Not correct, there would be 18mg of nic in 1 ml.
(around 20 drops depending on viscosity of the "juice.")

A Brit, abroad, (USA)
I know Im going to feel like a fraud on hte BP front compared to some of you but here goes lol
My BP has been around 90/60 for many years - yes its low but low normal not low dangerous - it rose a little (probably due to stress) a few years back to 100/60 or 90/70 at times - this was all while I still smoked though so I may be one of the poeple not affected by nicotine as far as BP goes.
The problem for me is that last year I developed hyperthyroidism which can raise BP (it increases resting heartrate) and so its skewed my results. My pre-vaping BP was around 110/70 and my last (post vaping) tests showed 100/70 and 96/68 - my issue is that I can't pinpoint what has caused the drop as although Im on meds, the meds have now been reduced (the doc says smoking adversely affects the thyroid so not smoking is helping things). The meds also caused some weight gain (Im usually slightly underweight for my height and now Im not) - its not a HUGE amount but its there - and that can also affect BP.
I can't see that vaping has adversely affected my BP (as cigarettes didn't seem to either) but unless I go off all the meds (I'm hoping! lol) I can't really tell.
On the 'definite' side I have lost my cough and have no lungs crackle any more but I dont think either of those things would affect BP anyway.

First, because it relates to BP problems, I'd like to post one of the most important health notices you'll ever come across.

YouTube - Sugar: The Bitter Truth

Second, five minutes after I'd been vaping lightly waiting outside the doctor's office, my BP was at 108/70. It was 20mg juice, but I wasn't really going to town on my PV since I was in a doctor's office waiting room.
