I've been vaping for over a year. I can't remember how long ago it was when I started getting this rash. It doesn't make any sense and my dermatologist and allergist can't figure out what's causing it. I keep telling myself there's no way it could be the vaping. I know people have had allergic reactions but, a rash?

It's blotchy, red, not itchy, not raised. It covers my upper chest, upper arms, upper back, neck, and a little in my cheeks. I feel extremely flushed when I get the rash. My ears even turn red. It comes and goes whenever it wants. The longest it lasts is about 4 hours.

I figure I need to throw this out there and see if anyone has had this same issue.

Have you had a complete blood panel recently? I'm no doctor so take what I say with the grain of salt, but I've had autoimmune issues for many years now and skin rashes can be a symptom of different disease processes. You may want to check with a rheumotologists for a complete check up. There are some things GP and dermotoligists just don't normally look for. I hope the problem get cleared ups soon. let us know how your doing.

Thanks for the reply Beans.

That's really interesting that you would think it may be autoimmune. My mom struggles with autoimmune issues too. She has to get infusions on a monthly basis.

I've gotten complete blood panels and nothing has come back but maybe someone is missing something. That what happened to my mom. I have an apt. scheduled in September with a really good rheumotologist.

I hope your autoimmune issue isn't serious. Thanks again for the response.
That's very nice of you, I'll follow up if I hear an update! Hopefully I'll have one by September

Sorry about your mom. Yes, autoimmune diseases can be extremely hard to diagnose and are often misdiagnosed at first. They also strongly run with in families. My mom has lupus, my aunt and myself both have Fibro. Good to hear your going to a good rheumotologists. Hopefully it will be something easily treated. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck :)

I don't think it is vaping related. Some other ideas....after you shower, do you dry those areas really well?

You know what else it sounds like to me? But probably doesn't apply because you look too young in your avatar - a hot flash rash?? My friend Tanya when she first started menopause used to get really red in the cheeks, neck, chest, ears, and felt hot a lot. Maybe it's hormonal. Or eczema? Tho I guess doctors probably would have guessed those....

I'm glad it's not vaping related...I don't know what I would have done!

Yeah, I dry those areas really well. The rash comes whenever it wants! It's been a lot better since I started Zantac. I'm on Adarax, Allegra, and Zantac. (Different types of antihistamine blockers). No one can figure this out. It's really strange.
Someone has mentioned that I might be going through early menopause...OMG I hope not. Doctors haven't mentioned it yet but it's worth bringing up. I'm 27 but you never know. Doctors have always said I'm, "a first." I would rather be the 100th...

Without the expertise of a medically qualified professional I wouldn't dare say it is or isn't vaping related.

What exactly are you vaping, you need to know the ingredients, not just the general name of the liquid.
You might then try using a liquid that contains none of those ingredients as everyone's body reacts in its own way and it is possible that it is a mild allergic reaction. Using eliquids that you can be sure contain only PG, Nic, and water or VG, Nic, and water would be a good starting point.

Start a diary to record when the rash occurs and see if there is any pattern that emerges, such as when you are on a period, when you are more stressed, after certain foods or drinks. At least you will have something to work on and can investigate it further. There are so many possibilities but this would be a way of narrowing them down rather than having to just guess what's causing it.

If the rash occurs when there is a full moon and the label on the bottle of what you are drinking in your avatar reads 'Tru-Blood', then all I can do is offer up my neck!;-)

Good luck and keep us updated as all research is important.

Or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I was recently diagnosed. Sweating, hot flash type symptoms, and a kind of break out like rash.

After a year of vaping I started breaking out in hives and rashes. After a few weeks of taking
benadryl to stop the hives and itches, I remember I started using a liquid sweetner in my DIY
juice. made my juices without the sweetner and everything was normal again, I looked on PC
that the side efects of that sweetner is rashes and hives. also you can try using just pg based juice
and if no help try juice with just vg.

The allergist put me on Allegra, Atarax, and Zantac. It seems to have stopped the rash for now. The cause it still unknown! Oh well...all the tests and blood panels have come back good so I'm less worried. I do have an apt. with a Rheumatologist in September.

I kept a journal and nothing ties in together. I've come to the conclusion I don't think it's vaping. The allergist doesn't think that's the cause.

I make my own juices and am very careful as to what is included in the ingredients.
It's a stumper!
