Hi everyone,

I was using PG-liquid and had no rash on my face, only chapped lips (which I had never before, not even in extreme weather conditions), but... after a few months I got more and more itchy red mini bulbs and blisters on my fingers and my finger tips became so painful that typing was impossible.
Testing if food, drinks, deodorant or soap could have triggered the eczema, had no result.
I still haven't figured out if I am allergic to PG or some flavor in the liquids, but I thought to switch to using VG and would like to know which hard ware is suitable for the thicker VG.
Perhaps someone can help me? I have searched this forum for VG-related topics, but could not find answers, because this is such a large forum.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yep, keekers! You are allergic to the PG liquid. I switched to pure VG and my face cleared up in two weeks. :)
I tried 100% VG and still had the rash. It has gotten a lot better though since my allergist put me on a bunch of antihistamines. I'm glad you found out what was causing your rash and got rid of it!

I would also like to know how to vape the THICK VG?

I use only VG as the dilutent in my mixes, I do use PG Nic and rarely know what the flavourbase is.

I would guess therefore my mix is of the order 75 to 80% VG.

I've vaped it in Ego C and Imist tanks, Boge carts, CE2 Clearo's and vision Ego Clearo's and so far have had NO problems wicking, clogging or anything else.

Hope that helps.

For the first year if I vaped anything over a 50/50 pg/vg mix my skin erupted in eczema like patches. Now, at nearly a year and a half, it seems I may have to cut the PG down some more, or start really reading the labels on shampoo, soaps etc. So many things we use these days contain PG, soap, makeup, shampoos, some foods, it's not a wonder we can get overloaded with it.

A drop or two of distilled water will thin out VG if your mix gets too thick.

Eczema like? Sounds pretty bad. I guess that juice is not that harmless after all.

I DIY my VG juices. There is generally PG in flavors, and for this reason I cannot go above 10% flavor in a juice...otherwise the chapped lips start, and then it all gets messy if I ignore that. My general VG recipe is %flavor + %distilled water = 22% or about. Much of the time I am vaping unflavored VG juice. If the VG-nic base is unthinned, I add 20% distilled water. That makes the juice perfect for cartos, which is where the most VG wicking issues occur. An unthinned VG juice, however, is really nice for dripping in an atty.

Some will thin their VG juices with PGA, but alcohol, even vodka, will also give me chapped lips and dry mouth.

I truly believe that chapped lips are the canary in the coal mine. If you get them, expect worse things down the road if you ignore it, or just drink more water, which does not help anyway in many cases.

Sort of like food is not that harmless. There are many many kinds of things to eat, and some people have problems with one food or another. Same with e-juices, which are a cocktail of sometimes many different things: PG, VG, water, maybe dozens of flavor compounds that make up a flavorings (strawberry = 50+ compounds). the problem is that, like with food, symptoms and their intensities can vary widely in a population. What is important is knowning exactly what you are vaping, so you can make intelligent changes if negative symptoms show up. And they very often do!

PG = dreadful for me. VG = just fine. Some flavors can also be dreadful to me. Most are fine. Everyone is different. there are no hard and fast rules, just like with foods and the many allergies that exist against them.

Keekers, based on your avatar, if that is you, I'm going to now say that you DO have rosacea. In fact, that looks to be the most beautiful outbreak I have yet seen! ;)

Seriously, however, I think rash issues from PG are from a buildup of lactic acid metabolite of PG, or some other matabolite. Complete flushing of the system of these metabolites can take a couple of weeks, its not immediate. The dry mouth can be fixed with VG right away, but rashes are far more systemic. If switching to VG doesn't allow you to take less or no antihistamines after a couple of weeks, then I stand corrected, and would say the rashes are not likely to be vape-related.

Somewhere out there
I have a problem with fresh mixed Capella's flavors, it actually burnt my lips, so I have to let Capella's steep at least two weeks usually. I also have a problem with pure undilluted VG, I do much better at 70-80% PG. I think everyone is different and sometimes we run into things that give us an allergic reaction. I have vaped pure PG and it does not have any taste really. I can vape VG if it is diluted with distilled water, I can't handle it if it is not dilluted. bnrk
