So, this past Friday I decided to finally take a stab at e cigarettes in an attempt to quit smoking, baby on the way makes this as good of a time as any I guess.

i guess I've been smoking the past 15 years or so and recently changed jobs from a machine shop to an office. If the place you go to work every day smells of burnt diesel oil and the air holds a pound of metal dust per square yard of floor space, you don't realize how bad your (and others) cigarette habits smell. So, after about 6 months in a filtered environment the whole self-consciousness settled in and I got tired of chewing on mints or stopping by the restrooms just to wash the smoke smell off of my hands when I came in from breaks.

none the less, I ended up landing with a blu starter kit, generally because they were pretty readily available ($35 at every 711 and walgreens) and stumbled across you guys when I was looking for some guidance getting this damn thing to work. I ended up getting another pack of cigarettes later Friday night too because I was convinced these ecigs were useless, or at least the blu variety from some of the negative posts I got the opportunity to read.

even though I was convinced this thing was either broken or junk, I decided I would skip buying another pack for work today and give the blu another go. I trashed the original cartridge and fell in love when the second one actually worked.

I've always been the kind of person that if I smoked the last cigarette in my pack, I was either riding to get another, or packing that other pack just in the case I wanted to squeeze another in somewhere between the truck and front door. All along I had pretty much bet that this 'water vapor' wasn't going to hack it in place of a cigarette, but when I woke up this morning and this blu took care of that craving (stopped at the store and didn't even flinch) then got me through the mid day break and I didn't feel like I was missing something, and for a final test after my lunch break, I went back inside, craving free and decided I was going to figure out what else I was missing.

the blu is working for me so far today, the first full day in 15+ years that I've gone without a cigarette or wasn't thinking about for after an hour without, I'm pretty sure there is at least some merit to the reviews and opinions of you guys so I decided after lunch to spring another hunk of cash to the cause and ordered an evod starter kit with a cache of sampler juice from vape dojo, which I'm pretty pumped is only 4 hours away so my free shipping looks like 2nd day shipping and I will have a new vape toy before I even run out of the blu starters. Likely won't be trashing the blu or anything, I can't call one bad cartridge grounds for it, but if the evod tickles my fancy, I may very well be paying my new treasure forward.

And yeah, I know that's a long ... intro post just ranting about my excitement, but the lurking I've done, I'm pretty sure proves that you'll know what I'm talking about :) thanks for reading guys.

Hey, I went from machine shop (power plant) to an office after a two year stint in community college. Good luck with that. I retired with the feeling that if a guy had ever worked for a living, he would carry the smell of it around for as long as the office lasted.

Welcome and good luck with the e cigs too. You'll probably find something you like better than Blu, but if it works, well it works.

Grats on making the decision, you won't regret it!

Glad you're dumping Blu, too - just typing their name angers me for how much money I wasted on them. You'll see when you get your kit, and you won't look back!

Grab a seat, fire up your vapor, and dig in - there's a lot to learn, and it gets more fun the deeper you get!

Welcome to vaping and the ECF

Glad to hear the Blu is currently working for you

Just a heads up - There are much better (working and tasting) options available for you if you get fed up with the Blu's (most people do)

try to find a local vape shop (called brick & mortars or B&M for short) that is friendly and helpful (most are) and has different flavors you can try in the store (will have a lot of labeled clearos filled and ready to try)

most common upgrade from a cig-a-like is and ego style battery with a clearo (I recommend a Twist battery and an evod clearo)
this route will be much more cost effective in the long run and is much easier to refill (always get at least 2 batteries and clearos - back ups for down time when charging batteries- main drawback to vaping is it is not as easy as running down the street for a pack of cigs)

My initial investment was quite high due to doing baby steps when upgrading equipment - if you are not concerned about appearance you may want to jump straight to an APV (advanced personal vaporizer) like a Vamo, Zmax, or (top of the line-American made) Provari and a tank - I prefer Kanger Protank myself

vaping can be quite economical if you are handy - I diy my juice and rebuild my protank heads - monthly cost to vape (not counting the cost of electricity to charge batteries) is $8.42 per month (compared to $210 per month to smoke 30 cigarettes per day)

good luck and welcome again

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. And congratulations on the new baby coming. You will enjoy your kit more than the Blu you are currently using. Make sure you keep your batteries rotating and have one charged and ready to go all the time. You will probably want to pick up a Protank 2. It is glass and you will not have to worry about it cracking from a juice you use. I am going to include a few links to threads that you may want to check out. Finding a juice you can vape all day will be a hunt. But it is important to find a couple you can enjoy for extended periods of time. You will probably want to upgrade your battery down the road. I have and use the Vision Spinners and the MVP2. A variable voltage and variable wattage device does improve your vaping enjoyment and your can find the best temperature to get the best flavor out of your juice.

These two threads have a lot of experience vapers talking about tobacco flavors and other flavors and reviews.

These threads will be helpful once you have several little bottles of juice that you do not care for. Trading is a great way to try new vendors and flavors.

Have fun with this. I have found that staying in touch here has helped me stay off the cigarettes. There is so much to read and learn.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on finding something that works for you!

If the evod kit you ordered doesn't work out for ya, I highly recommend this click me!l, it's on sale right now for $40 (usually $60+). Variable voltage, variable wattage, really long battery life and it even comes with a tank that works really well

My friend congratulations on both your and coming child's account. He/She will be thankfull one day. My wife could not give up cigarettes during her both pregnancies. Both kids have allergic illnesses now.
We share your joy of course but you will have issues

Nicotine level: You buy liquids same as your blu and I suggest you have vegetable glycerin to dilute the liquid when it is too much for you. For the beginning you have to get higher nicotine until your body adopts. Cause we get nic of cigs from lung but with e-cigs from our mouth and nose. with cigarettes it is very quick since lungs have direct access to brain but with e-cigs we need time.

Back-ups
You always would have spares. especially batteries but I suggest everything you have a spare even liquids. Because you can not always go and buy a new thing if one with you doesnt work.

You look at the you tube for how to clean your clearo and dry burn. In a while your system will develop some flavour residues on your coils and the vapour as well as smell and taste will be different. If you cant change coil and wire you have to replace them so get some atomizer heads too.

So bon voyage and happy vapings

Congratulations and welcome. The Evod starter kit is a good one. I started with it and still use it for backup & small carry. I think you will find it a lot more satisfying than the Blu.

Great unit for the price. I have an MVP2 from this vendor.
