Its not hard to understand why people get feisty when you mention Blu. They are either speaking based on what they have read, or they are like me and almost felt cheated by the marketing. No one hates a company just for being there, people here get upset because it can turn people away from what is a great solution to quit smoking. If Blu works for you great, but like me I think many others would have been back to smoking had they not found this forum after being so disappointed. It's not that its a bad device for what it is, its that its just not enough for most.

By the way there will ALWAYS be fanboys of a product. People will swear by something even if they KNOW its terrible, just to save face for being a victim of the marketing. I'm sure there are plenty of happy Blu users, but you can't stop people who got screwed from feeling the need to let people know about their experience.

I wish you the best with your Blu when it arrives... if it doesn't work out please don't give up this really will work with the right device.

Good luck with your Blu. I have a L88B (Volcano) and I think it's a great second PV. I really like it for quick one or two puffs when I don't really want to set and have a long vaping session or am too busy to stop. And I know for a fact that it works for some people as their only device because one of my friends totally quit smoking with one, but she was a half a pack a day smoker and I was a two pack a day smoker. The L88B is also great for stealth vaping, it doesn't produce a ton of vapor anyway so if you take a puff and hold it for a few seconds instead of exhaling right away, very little vapor comes out and it is easy to hide the PV in your hand.

My go to devices are either a 801 or 510 or box mod, but I also carry a Volcano too. I mod the carts with blue foam and use my own juice with 30% VG. This helps make up for the inconsistency of the factory carts and improves the vapor production greatly. I do keep a few factory carts around as emergency backups but probably haven't opened one for 5 months.

If or when you decide to get a bigger unit, look at the 510 devices. They are thread compatible with your Blu equipment, so you will have easy backup parts. The only thing that doesn't work is the chargers. Blu and 510 chargers are opposite polarity so you can't charge a Blu battery on a 510 charger or vis-versa. I often use a Volcano atty on my 510 PT, great for dipping and for testing new flavors.

Well…. I appreciate all of the feedback.

Seeing as how this was my first purchase of an e-cig, I may have made a huge blunder. I found this site about 2-hours after I made the purchase.

I was in a rush to rid my home of the cigarette odor and keep it off of my clothing. I was recently diagnosed with severe DVT and neuropathy in both legs and feet. And I have always been an extremely physically active person. Essentially, my blood is too thick and clots too easily in veins and arteries. Both are known to result from or to be exacerbated by heavy cigarette smoking. Doctors told me that my two-pack a day habit was killing me.

1. Yes, the PCC greatly influenced my decision to purchase the Blu.
2. Yes, I plan on refilling my own cartridges.
3. Yes, I will quickly switch brand/model if the Blu proves to be unsatisfactory.
4. No, “pretty” played no part in my decision.

Thanks again for the feedback….

Hey there....

Don't worry about whether or not you made a blunder....I did the same thing...Guy at work told me about the Blu and I ordered it..I did have to wait over 2 weeks for it. When I got it I wasn't really sure what to expect but I still craved the hell out of analogs...Anyways...fast forward a week and I had sold the Blu because I found the site and did a bunch of reading and asking questions. Much as you are doing now...I ended up buying a Joye Ego.....Had many reputable suppliers to choose from and was very very happy with my choice. Since I received the Ego I don't crave analogs anymore..AT ALL!! I didn't even start vaping with the idea of quitting. I have smoked 1 1/2 packs a day for 25 years and have tried everything.

So I guess my point is this....The Blu is what got you here and that is all that matters.....There are wonderful people here...Suppliers and members. We want to help and will help if asked.....

The way I figure it..So I spent $60 to get started vaping...I would have spent that in a week on analogs..EASY....Not a bad investment to be honest....

Take care and good luck!!!

Thats one huge reason why I love ECF......they dont let that go down here. The reviews you will find here are by real users, not suppliers or associates.

I had a blu...and I returned it in the 30 day period and got my money back. It sucked monkeyballs. I dont sell ecigs, nor am I owned or paid by any company.

Your more then welcome to give it a shot, but dont doubt the authenticity of the reviews on ECF.

Couldn't have said it better! Not all companies are bad but not all are great either! Many fall somewhere in the middle. That's why ECF is here right? I saw many great reviews on YouTube for the DSE801 so I bought one. In my opinion, the company I bought from almost made me go back to analogues!
They sucked, the product sucked, the product sucked! Customer service tried to help and they did reship another unit because the first one didn't even work but their supply comes from a Chinese company with very poor quality control and slow shipping. They drop shipped the second unit to me after 2 weeks and guess what? It was crap too! 1 Bad battery and 1 bad atomizer! I wrote them again and they said send it back at my expense and they would look at it and make a decision. I figured, experience with a company just cost me and to just move on! I won't bash them but I certainly will NEVER do business with them again. Screw me once, your fault! Screw me twice, MY FAULT! Say bye bye and move on.

OP:

my experience with the blu is like most others. knew a few people that had the blu/volcano, tried it, was akin to inhaling steam off the top of a hot cup of coffee.

Decided to go with a 510 when I bought my first one. You said the PCC greatly influenced your decision? There are PCC's for 510's that are decently priced, and function just like the blu.

Fast forward 2 months and the 510 kit is history. In fact, I wish I would have just built a 5v box mod to begin with, would have saved a whole lot of money. 12+ hours on one set of batteries cannot be beat, even with a PCC.

Maybe for the Marines and it seems they would be more interested in a stealth model as well, but I was in the Military and I still like pretty with lots of bling! It's gotta work and be reliable, but that doesn't mean it has to be ugly!

What exactly makes Ego/Riva or 808 more ugly than blue?

wasn't the aesthetics, the ego/riva does not have an LED, whereas the blu does. Sitting in an OP (outpost) in Afghanistan or Iraq, as a smoker, your options are cover your cherry and hope it's not visible, or don't smoke.

Definitely not wise to broadcast your location with unnatural light when you are outside of the wire.

Not so much of a problem during the day, but at night it becomes an issue.

Sorry Frosty09 if I was to hard on you.
I'm noob myself and I didn't buy wrong PV only because of this forum.
Idea of someone trying to push noobs in wrong direction drives me crazy

I am a happy Blu user for the most part I have a 808, magma 510, Joye 510, esmoker 510, and for the last 2 weeks all have been in the drawer except the Blu. People here talk about changing how well your model works with foam or Juice, and they are right all these can be better with modding but notice everyone mods no matter what model they have how many ppeople actually but the carts prefilled that actually came with their kits? I do't I put some good juice in my Blu carts and they are great. I do agree a 2PAD smoker would never be satisfied using exclusively a Blu but I do love mine. When I am not using my Blu I am using the Esmoker 510 (which seems to be a Magma with a Mega battery??)I go thru phases of wanting the smallness of the Blu and other times I cant stand constantly refilling. I wish I woould have known about the forum when I puchased the Blu but I think I would have just ended up with another super mini for the size and look. I completely quit smoking with my Blu and it worked so to each his own..

Homeish now
To the OP,
Glad to see another military vaper, even a jarhead :p ;)
Sorry to hear about the DVT, thats just horrible. I hope you can over come this.
ecigs and vaping has been a life safer for a lot of folks here.
This should work, just got to get you the right flavors and equipment for you.

At a two pack a day smoker(I was to), I stand by the statement that Blu isnt going to do it for ya. In fact I'd suggest skipping the 510's as well.
When your ready an eGo/riva would be a good option, especially when paired with some LR attys.(low resistance)
Just ask around for the best deal at that time, as many different companies sell these models and they are currently in a price war.

Now eGo's are much larger then a Blu, Blu are roughly the same size as real cigs. eGo's are more the size of a small cigar.
But the size difference is also the difference in battery life and power.

Oh and welcome to ECF.

It took me exactly 1 day for me to figure out that Blu was not going to work for me. I have only been using e-cigs for about a week now, but returned my Blu immediately and bought a 510. I felt the same way as a new user that you could not trust the honesty of the reviewers on almost all the websites I visited. ECF was great because I never got that impression, and it helped me make a very good decision on a product and supplier.

Blu does a very good job of attracting new e-cig users because they put a ton of money into marketing. The problem is they don't put any money into the product. It just doesn't work most of the time.

Can't down teh blue as I've never tried, but mom did. They are quite pretty and petite though. Some might like them, but only those that smoke really lightly. Don't try putting blue and good hits in the same sentence without the word not. But hey, its a start, and if you don't like it, send back, or just keep it for those days you want that kind of unit to tinker with, and swoop that 510 anyhow. You took that plunge, and congrats for doing so. But it won't be your last purchase, just be warned, and don't let it discourage you. Most of us here have a half dozen different pv's, and everyone started with our first kit. Welcome aboard :)

I was a 3 PAD smoker who now uses a Trilogy (similar to Blu but looks more analog and no charging box - just USB chargers. Frankly, it stank with prefilled carts but with juice - even using the foam that came in the prefilleds, it rocks. (36 mg PG from StrictlyeJuice.com in a variety of flavors)

Yes I bought 100 prefilleds initally but, that was so I could bulk load 50 at a time with my choice of juice since I often travel for up to two weeks at a time and dripping or refilling in the cab of a moving 18 wheeler is all but impossible.

Folks,
Thanks for the warm welcome. It feels so homey here already.

1. Yes, initially I assumed that with the plethora of e-cigs on the market that I would be making "other" purchases of them eventually. It stands to reason that some are much better at doing their job than others... just like any other product.

2. I ordered some flavored juices from I-Vape also... and some blue foam to mod the cartridges.

3. Yes, the "almost normal" size of the Blu e-cig was a major influencing factor.

I do wish I had discovered this forum before committing to purchasing the Blu.

Thanks again to all who who offered insight and encouragement.

Devoe, if you look at my signature you will see all the units I have or have tried in the past:) My favorites right now are the minivapestack (can get a sleeve to take it to 6v), the 5v saber touch,Ego and Ikenvape Lazers. When my Egos and Riva bite the dust, I will only use the Lazers for the out and about ones as I like them better. Of course, I have 2 Egos and 1 Riva sets so that may be awhile since I rotate all the PVs.

For the others: love the chuck but it gives me too much throat hit and I cough my head off so don't use it much; the Lady Vyper just doesn't impress me; love the xhaler and mini xhaler; Indulgence is nice and I like being able to change the adapters for different attys/cartos; have always loved the penstyle, 801 with flat tips but gave it to my son so no longer using that one. I prefer 510 attys to all others but do use 901s a lot on the xhaler.

Hope this helps, feel free to pm me if you have questions.

Forgot to say, I just pre-ordered the new Precious and think that one will be tough to beat if I can figure it out. Appears to be like a mini computerized PV.

    Chiming in on BLU,
I have had mine for almost 1 year and although it does light up Blue it really lacks in the throat hit. Then they changed my menthol flavor to Johnsons Creek and that really sucked. I still use BLU and I still smoke, BLU at work and smoke when I get home. However I now buy Volcano menthol tips which are great. I can not support BLU I am looking into finding a e-cig that can help me stop smoking for good!
@ rosesence what brand are you using? I need something better.
    Thanks

KayleePup hit it right on, "we all have to start somewhere." I started with the Blu, BUT sent em right back ... and I have NOTHING to do with any competitor...just sharing my experience. Blu served its purpose, it showed me that vaping works to replace analogs.

Welcome fellow vaper, and good luck on your journey!

The Blu E-cig I had ordered arrived late yesterday afternoon. I charged two batts and the Blu PCC and tried vaping with it. Nope…. the Blu is not for me. It is too small, very short battery life, the carts don’t hold enough juice, and the volume of vapor and flavor delivery were sorely lacking. It is re-packaged and ready to send back today for a refund.

About three hours after I had ordered the Blu, I ordered a Volcano MAGMA with extra attys, batts, carts & blank carts and a spare PCC. It arrived yesterday morning (before the Blu arrived)... and I really like it. I haven't had an analog since first firing-up the MAGMA... and I don't crave an analog. Amazing...

I ordered a GreenSmoke package and was extremely happy for a little over a day. Some carts did not work at all, some only 10-15 drags. Couldn't keep batteries charged as fast as I used them (came /w 2 batts). 1st battery died on day 2. They were very nice and sent another. 2nd battery died 2 days after receiving replacement. Carts weren't working, I spent alot of money...

But somehow I knew that e-cigs were the answer. In the middle of all this I found this site and educated myself. I sent everything back after 1 week of fussing and went back to analogs. I placed an order with V4L and quit smoking when it came in. (Like so many others I didn't mean to it just happened). Cart performance, battery life, vapor production all 10 times better. I got more equipment, batteries, carts, juice pcc for less money and none of it has failed me in almost 6 weeks.

Moral: If you don't run into problems and if it performs then you will be happy. But when you get tired of the blu send it back before the warantee expires and take a closer look at the reviews. kr808 for a 2 piece and 510 for a 3 piece.

Sometimes you have to experience bad to appreciate good.
