Since cigarette commercials are banned i find it encouraging that i just saw an ad for Blu on the tele. It seems as if the world of sheep has taken notice of vaping and concluded that it is just like nicorette or the patch. let them think that.... so my hobby may be embraced by the masses. ill go ahead and think of myself as an outlaw still.:2cool:

Too bad it's Stephen Dorff. He's not the only celebrity that vapes, neither is Jenny McCarthy. Everyone needs a paycheck, that or the bar is low, and possibly they actually give a hoot. I can't guess their motivation or Blu's.
If we are talking about the same commercial (the guy on the beach) its interesting to note that he specifically mentions its an ALTERNATIVE to smoking. He says something about "blu is my alternative to smoking so I dont offend people" just funny that he doesnt mention anything about quitting.
It's a terrible commercial, fully deserving mockery... enjoy. Just don't njoy. :p

Now that I have seen it a few times I see, it doesn't elude to quitting really, just switching. Hmmm that works too. I still get stared at when I hit my kayfun on 18650 provari.
Spread the word boob tube! Let's get everyone on MY page.

A little exposure that helps to explain that it really isn't smoke will hopefully help enlighten folks that aren't quite there yet.

Three, including myself, were told that vaping in our booth in a Plano mexican restaurant was okay and all of us were using mods. Not a blu in the bunch. This place isn't a dump either.

I don't think they had a choice, whether to say quit or switch. I may be mistaken but the big point of the fight with the FDA was if they are marketed as a 'cessation device' they would have to be subject to the rules and regulations of that category, thus manufactures can not market them that way.
:rules:
So instead they say switch, allow the public make the leap from switch to quit. Same thing but they're in the clear because hey, they can't help if people hear the word switch and associate that with quitting.

Side note, the funny or die spoof

What restaurant in Plano was it? I'm looking for a vape friendly restaurant. Blue Goose in Frisco has a sign that says "no cigarettes no electronic cigarettes", and that's heading out onto the patio.

That is because they have smart legal teams and good accountants.

The more people say that they used vaping to quit cigarettes, the more chance the FDA has of categorizing the ecig/PV as a "medical device".

I always say I "switched" to vaping.

Naming an ecig as a quit smoking device is not good for us at all.

edit: I wrote this before I read Sally's post. But she is right.
