I saw a commercial on TV last night for BLU e-cigarettes, and it was just plain weird.
Never once did they mention the words smoking, vaping, cigarette, quit smoking, nicotine, e-cigarette, or any words associated with smoking or vaping. Of the four or five people providing testimonials, none of them were actually using it. In fact, the only time they showed it was with the last woman, who was holding it between her fingers, like a cigarette. That was the closest visual to anything related to smoking or vaping.
Even the verbal stuff was odd. They talked about it being a good alternative, but they didn't say what the alternative was, or what it was an alternative for. If you didn't know what BLU is, you wouldn't know what the ad was even about.
It was the first time I had seen an ad for e-cigarettes, but boy, they must have some heavy-duty restrictions on what they can say or show.
