I saw a commercial on TV last night for BLU e-cigarettes, and it was just plain weird.

Never once did they mention the words smoking, vaping, cigarette, quit smoking, nicotine, e-cigarette, or any words associated with smoking or vaping. Of the four or five people providing testimonials, none of them were actually using it. In fact, the only time they showed it was with the last woman, who was holding it between her fingers, like a cigarette. That was the closest visual to anything related to smoking or vaping.

Even the verbal stuff was odd. They talked about it being a good alternative, but they didn't say what the alternative was, or what it was an alternative for. If you didn't know what BLU is, you wouldn't know what the ad was even about.

It was the first time I had seen an ad for e-cigarettes, but boy, they must have some heavy-duty restrictions on what they can say or show.

Providing information without feeding Fools.

Had you seen their early commercials, you might understand.

Example:

Which could be construed by the Non-smoker as nothing more than a smoker skirting Current regulations.

Poor Promotion of a Product capable of assisting in ending a SMOKING habit

Word Play:
Freedom to Smoke
Freedom From Smoke

I don't know that commercial was pretty motivational, I kind of want to go buy a Blu and hang out with Stephen Dorff

Isn't blu owned by big T? If they are than thats pretty smart of them to have a commercial when other name big T companies can't.
Blu is owned by BT as is Mark Ten, Logic and Vuse. Vuse is the market leader by far. Njoy is the only major disposable cigalike not owned by BT.

Ha! You know, we turn on our TV once in a blue moon, so I should have known these ads are nothing new. :)

@Dlmdavid I started with Green Smoke too. :) I could never use one without coughing fits, no matter which strength or flavor.
Same, the menthol was the only one I could handle, one thing I liked about them was the customer service, I ordered online and the next day I had a phone call from them and they went over everything I ordered and explained them to me to ensure that's what I wanted, I thought that was nice, I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure they were the only company providing pre filled disposable carts for them at the time too
