1. measure your polycarbonate or your caps, however you are gonna make them fit.
2. order your parts (stainless steel tubing from mcarr masters)
3. receive your parts via UPS in approx 3-4 days
4. measure your tank to however big/small you want it
5. decide whether you are gonna have a CE2 or standard cartomizer tank
6. use a pipe cutter to cut the stainless steel pipe
7. bevel in the ends of your piece of pipe that you cut for your tank
8. use a dremel tool & buffing rouge to buff your tank to a shiny finish
9. put bottom cap on the tank, add CE2 or cartomizer
10. fill with juice
11. put top cap on
12. screw tank onto mod (use a 510/510 connection if your connection is recessed).
13. Vape

For all metal I start with Tripoli and then for the final polish on SS it's either Green or White.

When you get a chance, please post the Mc-Carr part number for the tubing. I think SS is the way to go and especially stay away from pyrex. Thanks

May I ask why? I would think pyrex would be better than plastic. thx :)

When SS is hit, it can dent.....when glass is hit it can shatter and there are plenty of folks with shattered pyrex tank tubes. Pyrex has to be tempered properly to reduce thsy risk, but even then if the walls are thin tempering won't matter. Personally I don't want anything that shatters near my mouth or eyes. For completely different reasons I wouldn't use plastic either.

The pyrex tubing I found has 3.2mm thick walls and has the perfect ID for tanks. So its not thin at all.

I do believe that Jen has hit upon the fashion trend of the decade, Stainless Steel Tank Tops!

I don't know if it's really a fashion trend. I do firmly believe that a stainless steel tank looks better on a stainless steel mod than a plastic tank looks. (plastic/polycarbonate/acrylic/delrin)

I basically had my husband do this because I didn't want "cracked tanks", & I hate "leaks". I NEED something that simply WORKS. Seriously though, $30 for a plastic tank that will crack, with some grommets, or plastic ends????? I paid $50 for the length of pipe I bought, & after 9 tanks, still have more than half of the length of pipe left. It just makes sense.

pyrex tanks SOUND pretty, but I'm with Para on not having something that big/glass near my eyes or mouth.

I beg to differ...I have been using Pyrex and quartz for my attys and mouthpiece stem...let alone a simple tank...for over a year now with not so much as a chip. The atty can get very hot right where the coil is...then the cool liquid comes up the wick that touches the tube cooling it no problem. I have never heard of any Pyrex tanks shattering...do you have a link for that as I would like to see what and how they were using it....not doubting you just curious.

If Pyrex...which is called Pyrex because it is tempered..is so dangerous then why do thousands of labs use it every day and how did head shops stay in business for so long? I have never heard of anybody's paraphernalia blowing up in their face. If cut and stress relieved properly (easy to do with a soft flame) it is a very strong material for mod parts. You can also go with a medium or heavy wall Pyrex tubing..try breaking that stuff. Or go one up and get some quartz tubing that is used for boiler sight glasses and such. Its definitely not for everyone though...for people that work construction...are accident prone..or have to cheat on an IQ test then I probably wouldnt use it. Does it need more care taken than plastic tube...sure...best to have it recessed or enclosed. By the way...I have seen plastic tubing break and produce some nasty shards also.

Sorry for the rant...just amazes me at the things people get paranoid about anymore when it come to vaping.

Great mod by the way Jen!! :toast: I'll get back in my cage now..sorry!

I merely said I wouldn't use them and why....what you do is of no concern to me.....

One of the most experienced and knowledgeable vapers on ECF, nebulabrot shared his experience as well as others he's talked to who are having the same problem; namely shattering pyrex tubes. That's a start with FACTS; if you have any other lame observations you care to label as paranoia, please share I could use another laugh.

Were they using thin wall pyrex, medium wall or thick wall? Did they stress relieve (anneal) it after cutting it? Probably not! Your post sounded like you had first hand experience with it, not something you heard from someones friends brothers sisters boyfriend.
