Update - The carto in question began working well about an hour after I posted this, although I feel the flavor stilll isn't quite as strong as the other carto I filled this morning.

It almost makes me regret ordering some blank cartos last night! I had no idea you could boil them.....I think that tomorrow I'll be boiling up a nice big pot of all of my old ones. Thanks again for all of the advice.

Dont regret it nectarguru- you can never ever have enough blank cartos lol.

HI, I am a few months into vaping. At first I only had a few cartos, washing and re-using was important to me. I did the white vinegar, multiple boilings, etc. What I have been doing recently is using 97% alcohol using Cartomizerfillinator. It's just basically cutting the end from a condom, and attatching it to a syringe.

I am in the Midwest USA, it has been very hot and humid in the last few weeks. Even with air conditioning in my house, a water-soaked carto is difficult to get dry before it molds. Inhaling mold is not a good thing. If you use dry-firing it to dry the filling, you are surely risking burning it. An oven on warm works well, but it takes a few hours, and I don't want the extra heat in my house right now. Lining up water-soaked cartos with a computer PC fan should be good, it is warm air. If you've ever looked inside of a PC, lots of those can be very dirty as well.

I have been using the syringe, large ones for cleaning, it gives a good power wash to everything inside. I can clean my gunkiest clear dual-coils, and have them back to bright white in 30 seconds. The alcohol won't mold, and it evaporates faster than water. The flavorings can leave a lot of sediment, change the alcohol as it gets dark. It's also nice to load up a week's worth of cartos in five minutes, totally soaked.

They are cheap. I have been settling into a schedule of cleaning them once, then tossing them.

Hope this helps~

I've been doing 4-5 boils (until the water looks like normal boiling water, thx PBusardo's video) and then letting them dry about 2-3 days at least. I like to dry them battery side down as I have a weird thing where I believe drying out a glass open-side down on a paper towel or regular towel always makes the glass smell all musty and natural evaporation trumps the slight gravity benefits of having them open-side down.

Oh also before I set them up for drying I do some really SRS BSNS wrist-whips (kind of like shaking the thermometer but XTREME) which gets a lot of water to fly out of the open-end, followed by blowing until dizzy in all possible holes.

Anyhow--I've had a lot of luck with it! I have packs of new cartos and these dried out ones and I can tell no difference in quality.
