Is it just me or does the server guy slightly amused by the event? I would be shocked and frightened if this happened to the guy i was standing next to.

Lawsuit for psychological damage. ;)

But seriously. Guys a fool. It's lucky there are forums like this or I'd probably have made a mistake or two...

If, in the 21st century, you are not aware that any electronic device or source of power could be potentially dangerous, especially if improperly handled, you don't deserve 15 minutes and money in a legal suit, what you deserve is to be knocked back to the 12th century.

I pretty much blew a gasket when I saw that link again in a facebook group and got flamed for letting them know my thoughts about sharing these kinds of articles. Its just stupid how that makes the news then shared over and over again. Some people who think they are doing a public service by sharing either false propaganda or plain user error stupidity are doing more harm than good by spreading this so more of the masses get educated with fear long before facts.
My last comment in facebook was that "Your going to wonder why the government is going to destroy vaping... sharing crap like this is whats going to ensure the fact that they are."

This really has nothing to with vaping.
A 9v battery would do the same thing but with less power.

And fyi: regulations have nothing to do with destryoing vaping.
If they wanted to destroy vaping they would have just banned nic base.
Game over.
The govt wants to hand the industry to Big Tobacco, and out of the hands of small businesses.

"While Johnson is on bed rest waiting to see a plastic surgeon and to get skin grafts on his leg, Rex said she’s looking into taking legal action. With only a small warning on the actual battery itself, Rex said there was no way the couple could have known something so dangerous could happen."

No. Just no. You don't get to be nominated for a Darwin Award and then get paid for it. I know when I first got into vaping, over and over and over again I was told and read about being safe with batteries. I'm really sorry this guy got hurt but he better not get paid for it.

I learned as a kid to never carry ANY battery loose in my pocket unless in a protected way. (I'd put tape on the ends (and tape the batteries together, or at least an elastic) if I really didn't have a choice.

I remember a stupid situation when I has a tiny flashlight in a pocket and it undid itself and the tiny (watch) batteries came out and shorted themselves. I laughed it off as a stupid accident, but it did make me paranoid even more of not just being careful with batteries, BUT that devices in pockets could loosen and the batteries could come out.

The more I think about it.. isn't this similar to someone suing a cigarette company because the warning on the matches used to light them wasn't big enough to let him know that throwing lit matches on a gasoline/oil covered rag in his garage might cause a fire.

I anxiously await any explanation for why he was carrying batteries in his pocket while out on a date, tasting wine, with nothing, absolutely nothing to put them in to use? Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe it was in case he found a flashlight or mod somebody dropped that had no batteries in it?

I was watching the movie Along Came a Spider yesterday, came out in 2001. There's a scene where a little girl uses a battery pack from an intercom to make an explosion/fire that she uses as a distraction to try to get away from a kidnapper.

Then the kidnapper sued both the little girl and the intercom manufacturer for inflicting pain and suffering, including PTSD about battery dangers, so they are now afraid of picking up a cellphone or remote control.
