i rarely raise the voltage above 4.5v and dont like bottle feeding unless i'm driving and since the e2's came out its all i use instead. i rather drip with a fresh big batt on a lr 306 preferably.
i have a question:
i have a roughstack and bought the extension tube for it. my riva hits better than a 18650 on it. it reads 4.06 on the voltmeter at the atty connector but when i screw the atty on it its weak. when i put the same batt on my varbox bypassing the booster with the same atty it gives me the hit i want.
whould something be wrong with my ext. tube? would it be becos the plastic that protects the batt is a bit effed up? i have no clue whats up with it.

Just a dumb thought,,,,, Check the atty connection that you screw the atty into for a small short. the insulation can get a hole in it and just barely short it out. not a dead hard short just some leakage when the atty puts pressure on it. I had this happen before and it took forever to find because without the atty screwed in it was fine.

Thanks a bunch, So would more resistance = less voltage or the other way around?

The lowest resistor you can use is about 62k which sets the booster base output to 4.4v. This is cutting it pretty close as the input voltage must always be below the output (with some breathing room). This is the reason the walkthough listed a 100k resistor to set the base to 4.6v

With higher resistors the base output climbs. Infinite resistance (no resistor connected between adj and vout) will result in 5.0v output as listed in the datasheet.

i did take it apart cleaned it up and put back together. i also moved the center positive pin on the atty connector. seems to be working much better now. thanks!
Well I just checked my old pipe mod, a freshly charged 18650 read 4.21V, when I put it in the mod it still read 4.21V (unloaded).

Are you getting the same voltages now after the tear down?

fresh charged the batt reads 4.16-4.17V when i stick it in the RS i get 4.15V at the atty connector.

The way I found my short was to read the resistance of the atty (unscrewed) then with the back open and no battery I read the resistance with the atty screwed in (from the bottom of the atty connector). It was different. I took the center pin out of the atty connector and found a small hole in the rubber insulator.
