Im really enjoy my BP Amp bb, it has become my ADC. I've gotten use to the shape and it fits perfectly in my reading glasses soft case for protection. I love the fact that the mod charges super fast. The mod can be at 20% battery life and reach 100% in 30 minutes or less, which is just awesome. I also like the fact that when the battery life ends I can just plug in a new batter instead of having to chuck the mod. I tip my hat to you guys over at BP mods. Its a great little device.. I haven't taken it out of my rotation since I got it. I take it to work everyday...Thank you

Maybe Dicodes refused to sale them the chips @Thor
Yep, apparently Dicodes keeps very good control over who is allowed to buy the chipsets.
Evolv and the clone industry, I find it a bit strange that Evolv supplies chipsets there, when after all the high end companies that designed the mods are being cloned.

And good for Dicodes!!! Their choosing to not sell to Chinese companies clearly states how they feel about "clones" and that whole market. Also thinking they do not want any Chinese company making clones of their mods.

It is strange that Evolv supplies chipsets to Chinese companies. I wouldn't, no way, no how. The Chinese business model is to ripoff, or "clone", other vape companies hard works. Thieves. The Chinese are not known for innovation. Even their government is reduced to stealing from other countries. They are two-bit thieves all the way around.

Even Yihi requires a bit more than Evolv does these days lol.

Well Evolv started out just selling boards to hobbyist (and continued until the PACT Act). Later some North American and European manufactures started purchasing them. They didn't sell to China. But one UK manufacture had a bunch of leftover DNA75 boards and they unloaded them in China. This is how China got their first DNA boards. Then once China got a taste of DNA boards, they hired a middleman to do blind shipments. Thus Evolv thought the orders were going to somewhere legit, but they still ended up in China. Once this happens the cat is out of the bag. As you might as well sell to China directly, as they will still get them anyway. Same thing could have happen to YiHi and Dicodes if the demand was there.

ADDITIONAL: Evolv did sell special made to order DNA20 boards for iTaste back in 2014. So I guess this was the first legit shipment to China. Then a few years later that DNA75 dump happened.

Of course, they will always be able to get hold of x number of chipsets, but it can hardly be said that there is a limited number flowing across the sea.

Now, companies like Hussar and Protocol build everything in-house, they invest in fancy cnc milling machines, and within a couple of months of relaunch, SXK gets one, and Evolv sends a couple of planeloads of chipsets to them asap.
If I were the owner, I would be disappointed with Evolv.

No matter what you do, China isn't going to respect copyrights (unless it is in their favor). Heck they constantly steal copyrights all of the time. The only way to stop them is to sanction China. And the huge corporate giants and the governments won't allow it. So got any other ideas?

Remember too that Evolv also usually ends up on the short side of the stick. They patent wattage mode and TC mode for example. Before Evolv, people were using regulated voltage and that's it. And almost instantly and almost everybody was now using wattage and TC like Evolv did. There were also some clone boards that worked just like DNAs and had displays exactly like them. So I think Evolv is as much as a victim as anybody else has been.

I cloned your post.

But seriously, you do make excellent points.

I feel bad for the small shops who truly innovate, come out with awesome gear, only to have some Chinese companies, with zero scruples, <ripoff>, clone the crap out of their products.

Buying clones supports continued Chinese thievery. But........ consumers choose to look the other way. That's the bottom line. There is no disputing that.

Until the world, as a whole, pulls their heads out of their rear-ends, China will continue ripping off everyone at all levels. There are solutions. But none the world as a whole are willing to take together any time soon.

The best solution? Pull the manufacture of all Western made goods out of China. That alone would hit them the hardest. For that to work countries would need to replace China's output within their own borders. Not an easy task and certainly not a low cost solution. Should it be done? Yes!!!

Building AI manufacturing solutions is a proper first step. That alone would cut labor costs significantly. Boost profits as well.

IMO, the sooner that happens, the better.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I remember china's first box mod, with the glued in place 510 connector... The minute you tighten the atty the whole connector fell into the plastic mod... The real innovation came from the guys who created the fist pump whice was just a modified power bank.. I cant forget the homemade gennys, made out of syringe tube cutouts and cartos...

Here's the things that need improvement for the Amp bb mod, 1.5 or V2

1. Screen to small to read voltage and ohms
2. Shave a few millimeters of the top to make the boro a little snug, with the actual shape of the boro on the top part
3. Completely house and frame the front panel and add screws to the top part.
Why is the back panel edge's sunk in and not the front?

Nope, still using Stubbys. I did purchase two Empire PCBs though. They are the same as Stubby PCBs except they go up to 100 watts and doesn't sport USBs. And they are easy to swap out since they are solderless. The question is, when will I ever need a 100 watt boro device?
