If I get to building a mod it'll be with limited tools. Anyway I'm wondering if any of you have seem this site?

Svapiamo

They have BF connectors but they would have to be press fitted or glued. Or I guess it could be adapted to lock in. They also sell premade boxes. If I have the conversion right they aren't priced to bad. Isn't there a mod called SVA?

I have very limited tools too so I won't be doing any scratch builds but I did find some nice aluminum project boxes I'm going to try to work with. And I've been looking for something like those buttons on the website for a mech switch, so thanks. I might just mod a GG button though, we'll see.

The pin in the BF 510 looks Brass? It needs to be Stainless Steel
If you want to make a BF mod here's the best way to make your own 510

Credit goes to gdeal :)

So that's how that works. Thanks. I was mainly looking at the boxes they have. I have 1/4 inch Mahogany. Enough to make about 3 boxes with if I didn't screw anything up that is.

I posted a thread with this box I made in an evening with a fatdaddy 510 and some items I had laying around. I have upgraded the switch and added a piece of leather to reinforce the spine/hinge. I still want to add a snap and some material/leather to the face where you can see the plastic battery box.

I think it's going to be way too heavy to be practical to use on a regular basis

when I first got into bottom feeders I wasn't into wood at all, and I'm really not a huge fan of aluminum either really. at the time I thought to myself that the ultimate would be stainless steel. no one makes a real SS bottom feeder so I decided to build my own. sounded like a great idea and I built something really nice too, only problem is, after it was done and looked great in the end I winded up hating it, it was ridiculously heavy and I never use it, only time I would consider using it is if I knew I was on my way into a brawl or something, it's a very effective weapon, that's for sure :) in the end the brass mod may wind up being a beautiful novelty piece but probably not the kind of thing you're going to want pulling your pants down every day :)

next from scratch I build that's not wood will be titanium :) I really want to build a titanium or titanium and wood feeder

Oh yeah its heavy, I made a 26650 15ml feeder that's barely heavier than my 18650 10ml al feeder, bc I took a lot off it, I'm going to build the brass ones to be my regular 18650 size , and the other I'm gonna make as small as possible while still fitting a 18650 10ml. bottle. I think that's the plan anyways. It's looking really sweet so far , I dunno if I'm gonna bead blast one of them or not, I'm playing around with acid on some metals right now but I'm not yo impressed with that.
I woulda done stainless but passed for the same reason. .

now that I was thinking about it I pulled the stainless mod out tonight to look at it. man it's heavy. I put 2 complete loaded woodvils in one hand and the ss in the other and weighed them back and forth by feel and I'm pretty sure the ss is slightly heavier than 2 woodvils combined. then I went to vape it and realized there isn't even a battery in it yet :)

I built this thing to be convertible, able to switch from mechanical to VV. best of both worlds. I built it as a mech first with the intentions of adding the dna chip, but after using it for a few days I just really didn't enjoy using it because of the weight so I kinda abandoned it to the back of the shelf as is. as a mech it uses a magnetic switch, it hits hard with a fraction of a mm button throw. I wanted to call it the hammer but around that time a mod came out called the hammer. with it's weight and brass base it can literally be used to pound nails all day, can use it to crack coconuts open... nut cracker maybe, def can be a weapon

I took a few pics next to a woodvil for size comparison. the base is big enough to do the mech and vv switchable design but honestly if I ever did decide to take it to the next stage I'd probably make it strictly dna40 and cut that base down a bit shorter maybe but I doubt I'll ever touch it.

it's all stainless steel with a billet base with welded on threaded rings.the front end tubing and threaded 510 base are authentic svoemesto fine thread metric spares and the battery tubes I have different sizes, 18650, 18500 & 18350 and also have a really nice high end bOd by LEO telescoping battery tube for it. I built it thinking I was building a great mod, but it's just waaay to heavy to enjoy using.

the base has built up a patina from sitting at the very back of the shelf in a puddle of juice from misc atties that get thrown back there

it's a shame, I put a lot of time and money into building that mod. I really should at least throw a dna into it one day :)

You've got one of gdeal's feeders don't ya, I'll throw some pics up of a comparison. That thing is tiny tho . I was originally thinking I could make an 18650 dna out of the same size shell as the 26650 but now I'm pretty sure I can get it smaller or the same size as my 10ml. 18650.

Here's the 26650/15ml next to gdeal's dna40:

Guy looking good but as turbo said you're gonna have to mill the heck outta those blocks to get them to a usable weight. It's sure possible but just a lot of work, looking forward to see what you come up with. Personally I don't know if I would attempt that with a manual mill because it's gonna take forever, it's a task for a CNC with a high feed rate. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to discourage you just be prepared for a long stretch of milling.

I'm increasingly becoming a fan of the wood/aluminum combo for mods as these two materials not only look good but also make for reasonably weighted mods. The added bonus is that both materials are dead easy to mill/cut/sand. I'm also increasingly becoming a fan of design features, I've been a vaper now for over 4 years and if there's anything that's missing from these mods we hold all day it's creative design. What makes items we cherish really desirable? Look at why Apple products for example are so desirable, they're creatively designed with a unique form factor.
99% of mods on the market are either a metal tube or a box, same applies to what we do. Yes they're nice but the wow factor isn't there. I saw recently Peter's (pdib) prototype of his Dublin mod and although it's not my cup of tea as it's a dual battery mech mod (not a BF) I salute his ingenuity and creative flair for making something with character and not just another box. We desperately need more designers like that.

I've decided that from now on it's pointless for me to just make different boxes because at the end of the day that's all they are, boxes. Personally I want to incorporate more creative thinking in this hobby and try and make something more original and aesthetically pleasing.

Again not trying to discourage anyone from making whatever they like but it's just my personal take on things.

Thanks, I really like the way they look too. I'll try to get some good pics later but the tooling marks look so cool imo. Also the angle of the cuts on the inside of the bottle are there to serve a couple functions. They fit your hand right or left they reduce the diameter of the body and they increase the amount of the bottle that you have access to allowing you to squeeze harder, from different grips and contact the bottle past 180 degrees to the back side. I've been running only 100vg juice and I'm pretty happy with it so far. . . Thanks for the kind words Capt!
