I can't speak for other pilots but I personally don't vape on-board as it's not allowed and that's the reality of it. In our job you have to follow rules and regulations or nasty things can happen and despite the fact that I may not like it but I can't selectively pick and choose which rules to follow and which not otherwise I wouldn't be much of a professional.

Looks beautiful Capt, you sure could be a commercial modmaker when you retire from flying, you sure have the design and build skills.

The cocobolo shavings are highly irritant so be careful, I have near no known allergies but when doing some light sanding on my coco 18490 Woodvil my arms started breaking out in red patches and my nose felt very itchy. If you already know this then disregard. The wood when finished is excellent visually and very tough, I love the feel. It is my favorite wood for a mod.

And here I am struggling with a simple 3-ply wooden box, I like small and light so I am trying to find a design to achieve this. I think a DNA40 will almost fit into a Reo mini 2.1 like this but not quite. This experiment is to see what can be done in terms of size. Without the spring, there is more than enough room for an 18650.

Thanks Ian I didn't know that about Cocobolo, I hope I'm immune to that because I have a lot of sanding and carving with that one to pull off what I have in mind. I want to make a one piece mod with no door and that means lots of hollowing out of the interior where a mill bit can't reach. It will be done old school with chisels.

That box of yours looks nice and small. What chip are you using, is it an SX?

CaptSteve:
Very nice looking mod. I wonder how the FatDaddy 510 with bottom feeding pin works for you. From discussion in GDeal's mod threads it sounds like there is leakage between the pin and the housing. Has he changed the design so the parts seal better? Have you figured out some system that seals it better? (I thought maybe lots of teflon tape and never changing the atomizer.) I am planning to use GDeal's Classic 510 design. I already ordered vented screws from Amazon. If FatDaddies bottom feeder is leak free, it would be much better.
Again, your work is beautiful. I am just hoping for functional with my design based on a $5 dead hannaa modz clone box.

He has made changes to his new ones and they seem to work. I haven't had any leaks with the new ones I ordered from him but I do have a bag full of those vented screws just in case. I've used the new ones lightly so I need some heavier use to make sure they don't have problems but the initial impression is good.

I think he means less work Ross, plug and play if you will
Good point. I forgot the hassle of modifying the screw heads (which was something of a pain!) 'cause I now have some that were done professionally. The other modifications to the classic insert take less than 5 minutes.

I tapped the nylon insert to match the screw and I'm running that on all my feeders and none leak, none have any orings either.
Looks sweet capt!

I do the same thing when I mod my RDA's to run hybrid...I've found that extra surface area of contact does as good a job as a tight tolerance press...it may be that capillary action doesn't like threading ???
