Feeders are expensive enough and you want to add a chip it's gonna be even more expensive.

Agree with most of this..a little food for thought though. When evolve released the temp control they mentioned multiple times In pbusardo interview that they were preparing for the deeming regs. I think they are trying to sell It to the fda as a safety feature that all mods should have. Our Idiot politicians may just decide we aren't smart enough to use a mod that doesn't have this "safety" feature... Oh well I sure hope im just being paranoid.Evening friends from DC,
My 2 cents on the regulated vs mech mods argument is quite simple. Regulated mods are probably great for newcomers who could do with a level of protection that they offer but personally I see no need for them. Again I stress personally I like both the simplicity as well the versatility of a well made mech mod. However nowadays it's not about protection that regulated mods offer, it's about brute power and as Quigs said disaster is lurking just round the corner. Sure you can argue that many vapers abuse mech mods (or should I say batteries in mech mods) to the point of playing Russian roulette with every inhale but I think China has done the biggest damage by flooding the market with cheap, badly made massive wattage time bombs.
Aal said he believes 2015 will be the year of temp control, I beg to differ as I believe it's nothing more than a gimmick which will see little success on the market. Brandon at Evolv was actually very clever to make the DNA-40 capable of operating in non-temp control mode as well because most users will not use temp control in the long term (kanthal is here to stay). Time will tell but I firmly believe that temp control will probably be forgotten next year. I do however 100% agree with Aal that the future is in a wickless atty which will make a dry hit a thing of the past.
Interesting times ahead fasten your seatbelts folks the ride may get bumpy
If I had the experience / equipment, I would love to mod my mech-converted VV Grand to throw the new YiHi SXmini board in..I have the SXmini mod, and am thoroughly impressed with it's accuracy, and like the power curve settings.
Authentic YiHi SXmini 60W/120W Chip!
As it stands though, I'm now waiting for the relatively easy conversion of the FT mod I posted about here the other day, and the gdeal FD 510 / hollow screw setup that I scored a few sets of in the recent CoOp... Those are about 6 weeks away. I'll get the FT mod before they arrive.. Good things to those who wait, and all that...![]()
You can get a lot of stuff into one of those VV Grands...never had one, and I'm having a tough time getting the scale, how much taller is it over the Grand?
on the subject of dna40, you can't really say you don't like it till you at least use it and try it, I think it's pretty cool. it vapes about as good as kanthal but it basically adds built in wick protection. I'm vaping away and all of a sudden I notice that vape production is way down, it's hardly putting out anything.... I look and notice my tank is pretty low so I give it a longer harder press and bam, vapor production is right back up to thick rich chewy clouds. what's not to love? on a regular kanthal build instead of noticing low vapor production you'd scorch the wick in the same situation not realizing the bottle was low and get a nasty burnt hit. that burnt hit is what temp control is all about protecting from, burnt hits suck, therefore the dna40 is a great thing. def worth trying now that hopefully the newest chips are functioning correctly. yes there is a bit of a learning curve, like everything else in vaping but I really thing temp control is the future. in a year or so I bet many more chips will have temp control, it really is pretty revolutionary
personally I think a regulated bottom feeder is the best vape there is, I think you'd be able to sell as many as you could produce, it's a niche market right now because there is no readily available supply. the few low production international mods there are now have months and even years waiting lists, a good durable waterproof dna40 bottom feeder that's readily available would be awesome and would sell like crazy even at $350-$375 I think, guys are getting much more than this for the very limited mods there are now
How about the SX350 in a VV Grand?

Took some thinking outside (or rather rearranging inside) the box.

yeah, 1/2". I did my first reo vv conversion with a regular grand and I added more than 1/2" to the base so it winded up a little taller than a vv grand. I don't think I showed that one in this thread? here's a few pic's, this was the first good chipped bottom feeder I built and I used it all day every day I loved this thing right up until the day I got my woodvils, then I never used it again since![]()

Really looking forward to seeing that finished Custom.....![]()

I finally got my hands on a VV grand a while ago that I'll build eventually, going to put it down low like the other regular grand I built and have it display through the bottom of the door. my lower housing looks very much like what you did only it's a bit taller because I moved the bottle and battery up, not going to use the large upper delrin cap because I don't have space for it. I'm going to try and see if I can get an upper delrin cap from a regular grand from rob instead. the way you have it CC the 18650 fits even with that larger upper delrin cap?
