Don't do it!, or should i say don't sandwich your pos connection between the delrin insulator and the brass nut of the housing ( the brass nut on the bottom of the housing id press fit and i have had one "unpress itself", the delrin threads are fine and weak, and should not be put under any extra stress), and don't rely on the pin making a good contact with the housing especially once the brass has got a bit gunky.I received my FD V4s today, pretty quick service
I'll be giving the V4 a shot on this one and give my lack of tapping skills a rest. I'm considering sandwiching my pos buss between the pin housing and the insulator.
Steve, or anyone with V4 experience, what's your thoughts on conductivity in that manner? I'll be counting on either the pin making contact with housing and or the spring carrying the load. I could just drill a hole and press fit it on the pin. That's probably best?
You can remove the brass housing and pin section , remove the o-ring, and solder (lead free obviously) a small flat tab onto the brass pin, then solder your wire to that, if it's a leaf spring then drill a hole and solder that direct, just make sure you measure first so you do not restrict the travel of the pin, you can then add the o-ring back in and "carefully" screw the housing back in. this is a semi permanent attachment, needing the soldering Iron again to remove, but is saves space and gives a great connection.
