I received a black classic pen-style e-cig starter pack yesterday.

After a few minor mishaps (e-juice in the mouth from sucking too hard, insufficiently charging batteries), I really got my groove on with this thing today.

This is the first time for over 20 years I have been able to go 24 hours without a conventional ('analog') cigarette, and not missed smoking at all.

I never thought this day would come.

Just be prepared for when all your equipment breaks and/or you run out of juice -- order extra supplies and keep plenty of juice on hand. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a state of unbridled panic, behaving not unlike a penniless street addict, begging and clutching the pants hem of his dope dealer. An unflattering, unattractive position. Or you may do what I did in that situation, back to the analogs because that particular "dealer" is your omnipresent, ever-dependable tobacco retailer around the corner.

I'd give up this damnable addiction to nicotine in a minute, but I enjoy it so....

After reading these forums I took the precaution of purchasing an extra atomizer and a large bottle of tobacco flavour e-juice along with the starter kit.

Didn't get much vapour from the e-juice on my one attempt at a cartridge refill - the pre-filled cartridges supplied seem to work much better. The bottle cost quite a lot though, so I guess i'll have to force myself to use it up.

Oh, trust me....you'll be glad you have that juice one day...when those carts start drying out :D

Withnail if you bought a generic atomizer, forget topping off and/or filling carts, just drip a couple of drops down the inside of the atomizer. It will shorten the life of the atomizer, but you'll get a smoke more like the name brands.

OK, I'll try that as soon as these cartridges run out. Do I still need a cartridge in the atomiser for this to work or should the atomiser be empty with just a mouthpiece attached?

Still - it's gotta be better than digging around those leftover ciggy butts to get the last remains of some dried up tobacco in order to get your fix!!

Yeh, tearing apart old cig butts for tobacco....or looking for old carts to squeeze out for a few more drops of nic. Too funny!

When I've dripped with generics, I either use a mouthpiece, or pull the filling from the cart. Make sure that you drip the liquid down the inside wall of the atomizer rather than directly into the middle/on the coil. Understand that unless you're willing to jump through a lot of hoops with the plethora of cleaning gymnastics discussed here, dripping will drastically shorten its life.

Right now, I'm vaping with a 3-month-old NJOY penstyle atomizer. I've never dripped on it, only fill/top off carts, because its performance has never deteriorated to the point that I felt I needed to "get more juice to it." After 3 months, it's still creating great throat hit and vapor, and at this point in my experience, after playing with generics from several vendors, I'm convinced it's because the NJOY is, quite simply, a superior atomizer.
