This fuse looks like a one time fuse when the current draw is to high it trips and causes an open circuit. There are resettable fuses as well such as this: VapeSafe2 Resettable Fuse : VapeNY... New York's Choice for Electronic Cigarettes, VapeNY... New York's Choice for Electronic Cigarettes
A one time fuse can not be reset and so once it has operated its a throw away.
Either a fuse or a kick is a good idea in a mechanical mod as they give an extra level of protection.

That is indeed a fuse. It is a measure of protection for you and your mod

It's a fuse to stop current flow if you have a short. Found the same one here. Yes, it's very worth using. It's magnetic and will stick to the battery. They say to put it on the positive or negative terminal of the battery. In the K100 I would use it on the positive end and put that end in first always.

Thanks for the quick replies, once my battery is charged I'll make sure to put the fuse in with it. Also, since my carto is ruined, how do you determine what ohm coil to use with a mech mod? I know it's based off of voltage but with a 3.7v battery a 1.8ohm coil made things taste off. If anyone can link videos or threads that could help please do.

Also, thanks everyone for being friendly and answering my dumb questions. This is making vaping and avoiding mistakes that much easier for me.

Here's a vaping power chart. Your battery is going to be at 4.2 volts off the charger and lowers with use until you take it out. Most of it's time will be spent around 3.7V. Don't let it get too low or you will damage it. I try to change by 3.6 and try to avoid less than 3.0V.

The resistance is the load on the battery and with the voltage from the battery it translates into watts. The watt output relates directly to the amount of heat the coil generates. Most people like wattage between 5 and 8.

I'm basically using this thread as a crash course in vaping 101
Please DO ask any questions you have. :thumb: Please do NOT use this thread as your only source of information.

As a mechanical mod user, you need to learn good safety practices and use them. Links in this post could be a good starting point. If not for spending time researching before buying a mod, I would never have guessed that batteries should be rested after charging:

Rest batteries after charging

One commonly-reported factor in almost all the incidents we hear of where batteries failed violently while in use is that they were taken directly off the charger and then used immediately, at which point they failed.

Because of this, we think it may be a good idea to rest batteries after charging them. This advice will not be found in the usual 'reference bibles' on batteries, but we see more and different reports than others. Therefore we now advise:

Do not use batteries directly after charging them. Use a battery or batteries you previously charged, and that have rested for several hours.

Never would have guess about letting a battery rest so thanks a hell of a lot for that  and I guess I should start doing some more research. Thanks everyone!

I ordered a K100 and it had the fuse attached to the charger. I thought you were only suppose to use it when charging... There really should be some instructions when you order the kit.. Thanks for clearing my confusion.
